Im not gonna lie, the new Shen isnt fun nor is it any better.

I have been a long time Shen player that enjoyed a solid tank that will soak up damage for as long as humanly possible and could change the tide of teamfight with just a few calculations and decent plays. This new Shen doesnt seem to actually have that for some strange reason. Yes he was made to help his team with the new W, but he just seems like such a mixed bag that really doesnt have a good purpose.

The new Q is a %health auto attack, you get 3 if you get your magic SWOOORD through the enemy you get more damage and attackspeed with a slow if they run. <--- Here lies one of my largest gripes. I dont want to be a 1v1 duelist that can only help myself by just doing damage to their tank. No one benefits expect Shen unless he get the mediocre slow that you need to work just to get. His old Q yes allowed dueling but provided a range poke that is needed in harder matchups such as Gnar or other raged bullies. It provided sustain which let you grit your teeth and take everything they could and just try to work through it. But the heal was also towards teammates that attacked the marked target. This was huge as it could help focus down certain champions and even just help your team in general.

His new W is actually really cool but isnt telegraphed so your teammates know when its coming or really how to use it properly. Once again for some reason its a 1v1 in mind spell that can lock out champions that are AA reliant out for a period of time for you to exchange blows. Working around with your Q makes it a even larger hassle due to pointless re positioning of it. If you need to leave your area for the backline when a Yi, Assassin or other champion you cant stop dives your back line you actually cant give them the area due to you needing to use your Q to get pitiful damage out. I will be the first to admit, the old shield was just a waste of energy that gave a small dinky shield that was on a low cooldown. But the new one doesnt flow well enough with his new kit for full use to be made of it.

Taunt= good Bring back the "Shen takes reduced damage from taunted champion" function and we are fine. When im holding back the fed Vayne off of my team i dont want to die just because im trying to help. Personally the damage on it is also a god send as it feels like you are actually gonna hurt them. And please fix the hit box, wider?, Longer?, something anything, missing this can mean the loss of the game. When i miss it point blank and go through their model but yet they keep blowing up my back line regardless is a real problem.

His ult is perfection. Nothing is better than a good Shen ult. Although a small change to numbers such as 300/500/1000 would be appreciated due to so much damage in the game meaning that his ult can be broke quickly with ease by most champions.

His passive is quite nice but using abilities that are all used in quick succession such as his basic E->Q->W Combo really doest make full use and when trying for proper timing makes a Shen lose out on damage or his proper use of W. His old passive meant you attack, then attack for more damage based on health. This meant for great little amounts of poke and large damage in sustained fights that didn't require you to drain your energy pool immediately.

His energy usage feel bad. Straight out ill say it. Fix it. 400 energy <---Why? You waste that on a single E to escape, You miss E due to its hitbox and you are officially useless. Tone the numbers down. Btw 1 E and 1 Q will leave you with 20 energy. (yes the Q gives energy back as well as E, but you cant make people get hit by them when you lack any range or gap closer that doesn't ruin the rest of your combo.)

Just fix what you started. And get rid of that goddamn floating sword. Who cares about that. He is a tank ninja that gets punched in the face for a living, Make his kit matter and make sense. It has no more flow than when you started. It feels clunky when you have a literal leash following you.

Worst of all is his Itemization. Currently his Core is Sunfire Spirit Visage which was standard. But with his W and E along with Q being hugely crucial CDR is something to sought after. But when the only real CDR items he can pick up with ease without stretching too far is item 3065 item 3190 All small problem arises. Items such as item 3025 item 3110 Would make a world of difference if the mana wasnt straight wasted.

Lying can also be used to cover up something that is extremely relevant and obvious. I have only seen 1 other post on this exact topic and it was quickly brushed under the rug. Alot of Shen mains have left him with this rework.

I was a huge fan of shen before his rework. Played him Top, Jungle, and Support. Mostly Jungle. I was worried about his sustain being removed effecting his clears. The generic 3 AA passive just makes him another "meh" jungler...He can no longer farm the jungle WITH NO ITEMS for the first 10 minutes. His ability to support has dropped massively. Like yeah sure your R and E are still good but if i'm gonna play a CC tank i might as well play a better one. I used to pick him because his unlimited sustain combined with his R and E made him a GREAT pick into other tanks or sustain supports like Alistar or Sona. I think i've played him a grand total of 4-5 times since his rework...he was one of my favorite champions before the rework item 3070

In my opinion their attempt to create a more interactive shen hasn't really succeeded. I like the concept of his new passive but i feel like it really falls short in game. He still uses a pretty binary combo for trades. I guess they were just trying to get rid of the "I have infinite energy based sustain go away plz" Top lane shen. Looking at how they've set up this season it makes sense though. That old shen we all love would've put a real damper on all the snowballing considering the fact that he can hold onto his t1 turret forever.

take a mechete and rejuvenation bead. Take the strength of ages keystone. Dont clear the buff camps your first pass thru. On second pass, clear them. Gank top at lvl 5 for a kill and hit lvl 6 pushing to tower. Teleport to another lane. Gank again. Dragon. Ward enemy jungle. Hes pretty strong imo. Idk why. U dont need a pot tho.

Oh i'm a jungle main, i know how to clear the jungle perfectly fine. I'm not saying i struggle with him and i'm not saying he's weak. I just don't enjoy playing him anymore, i don't like all the new stuff they added to his kit. I enjoyed the simple yet effective kit before. The old shen could literally just spam qw through the jungle, do two clears, and still come out full health before his first back.

his team fighting is stronger now though, its not without its pluses.

I've had some really successful W's in team fights that mitigate so much damage. sure its not telegraphed which makes it even harder for enemy to predict.

I'm learning that there are bigger fish to fry in this game.

I agree about giving manaless champs some kind of compensation for those mana items. posted this other day: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/7BNLHGps-frozen-heart-on-manaless-champs
