I'm playing pretty well and losing, and playing not so great and winning.

Someone please explain what's going on. I play a lot of Quinn top/adc (primarily top) and seem to do quite well in every game. I've even been freezing the lane by my tower to allow my jungler to gank, and sometimes I go 6-0 in lane from it. Despite all this, and playing fairly well in my opinion, I'm still losing games. Usually this is due to 1 or 2 people not caring about winning or losing (like in the game where I faced Poppy. I made her go 1-10 but still lost the game because my elise and cait were inting and giving up!). I'm only after genuine advice please, I just want to know how to climb when I seem to be playing well, and on the off chance I don't do well, I WIN! I once played Garen ADC ghost and cleanse (was trying to force a dodge in select) and went 6-0 in lane and won the game at 20 minutes). Is there something I'm not doing with my lead to cause a win?

If you are freezing and ahead in lane, you should be more ahead in cs. Try to work on your cs numbers, because if you are ahead, you should have far higher cs numbers than just ~5 a minute. Aim for around 70-80 at 10 minutes and 150-180 at 20. In addition, since you are playing quinn, focus on split pushing rather than teamfighting. Even if your team is flaming you, it is usually far better to split push simply because it diverts attention away from your team and if you are strong enough, you should be able to force at least two people to deal with you, making it 3v4 for your team. Look up some guides for split pushing, it should help alot.

Agreed, cs is one thing I'm trying to get progressively better at. I used to barely get 40 at 10 minutes but now I can consistently get 60-70. Mid-late game I'm working on getting better at farming lanes. And ah I see, I always knew Quinn was never amazing at teamfights since she gets screwed from cc and is super squishy. Thanks for your advice on splitting, I'll try to take that kind of approach more on Quinn.

Obviously you aren't a win condition. What's your objective damage usually look like? How often do you roam to other lanes after winning your own? Do you try to shot call?

My objective damage is usually fairly good. I tend to get my tower at around 12-16 minutes in and always make sure if we make a play or kill a number of laners that we push and get more towers. If there's never any cs I ping rift or drake if available. I try to roam whenever I can but of course sometimes especially if I'm shoved in it's not easy.

League is a game won by a team, lost by a player, which is stupid imo. 4 players can be doing really, really, good, but the moment that 1 last player starts feeding, goes afk, etc... it becomes almost impossible to win.

FPSpsychoYT1 votes

Too true honestly. If you don't become a hard carrier, it's almost impossible to win sometimes in silver. I guess I just need to improve my basic macro.

The best things you can do in low elo to improve is learn how to:

  • Ward/have good vision control
  • Last hit everything if possible (trying for 10cs / 10 minutes is a good goal, but realistically, 7/10 minutes is a better and more easily achievable goal for lower elo players)
  • Have good map awareness/enemy tracking
  • And learn when and how to push advantages (this is a little bit of an advanced concept but is still good to learn asap)

For playing an ADC mostly on a solo lane your farm is really low.

Which means that you lose a lot of time doing nothing, economy isn't only about money, it's about using properly a resource as the time when you are on a game.

Also, I will ask but you dont usually buy Control Wards right ?

Do it, doesn't matter if you are Adc or Top, on every single back if you have money you have to buy a Control Ward.

Okay thanks, I'll buy a control ward whenever I can. And true, I'm going to go into a practice game and practice last hitting and all the dmg my abilities do to all minions.

Honestly, if you really want to learn how to play ADC and you are starting to play this game (as it seems) there's a champ you need to play.

Play Ashe for a while (I recommend in recruitment, not ranked) blind picking her always to play even on the worst matchups you can think for Ashe.

You will die, a lot of times but it doesn't matter because playing the most team reliant ADC with teams that will never help you cuz peeling for the ADC isn't a trend there will force you to position yourself properly or you will die on every fight frontlining as Ashe.

And Ashe isn't even good on this meta so it's even better to train because you will have to really stomp a lane to have a chance of carrying a game.

Play her for a while and you'll see that suddenly you are better with all ADCs, because all share the same gameplay core, and Ashe is the most basic ADC in the game.

I'll send you a friend request with my other account ok?

OK sure I'll give her a go. I do have another account that was silver 4 last season, currently that one is bronze 3 but I play a lot with friends on there. It's level 108 so I know a fair bit about the game, but in all fairness I never really looked at the basics on ADC so now you've said that I'll try and learn from the bottom up.

Playing adc is playing other game because the mechanics you need are unique for them, sure you will use what you have learned from other roles aswell but it's not the same.

I appreciate your advice but I just played an Ashe game and hard fed, I really don't enjoy the champ. Also I had 2 afks and one of them told me to go die so that didn't help.

Oh that's the point, you will feel miserable playing Ashe, that's why she's the perfect ADC to learn how to play ADC.

She has no agency on her own and is at the mercy of her team always, that's quintessence of the adc as a class and role.

It doesn't really matter, playing ADC isn't for everyone's taste at the end.
