Pickaxe Being Built Into B.F. Sword?

Honestly guys, I think item 1038 should be built with item 1037. I think we can all agree that item 1038 is expensive and hard (if you're not fed as hell) to build early game. It would make it easier to build items like item 3031 and item 3072 for adcs or damage-reliant champs like Tryndamere and Darius. And again, this is just an opinion, but I would very much like for everyone to hear about this. Please tell me your ideas about this topic and spread the word!

The problem with making it build into a BF Sword is that it makes a Pickaxe too versatile of an item. Right now, BF builds into four items that are incredibly powerful items (well, I guess we all agree that item 3508 needs help), and a Pickaxe also builds into its own separate branch of powerful items. Merging these two would mean there is NEVER a time when grabbing a Pickaxe is a bad idea.

You realize Needlessly large rod cost more right?

You have to consider what the high prices on those items are meant to achieve and how they affect the game.

It could certainly make sense to have all the larger items build out of smaller ones:

item 1036 > item 1037 > item 1038 item 1052 > item 1026 > item 1058

But it would greatly affect the power curve of damage-dealing champions in the game.

Having those items have high costs means that saving up enough gold for them is a gamble that results in a large power spike if successful. It encourages snowballing (because you need to be a bit ahead to afford the big items) and also makes high-damage champions have irregular power spikes (buying their expensive item) instead of a smoother power curve of smaller purchases.

Of course, it's entirely debatable as to whether smooth power curves would be worse or better than the irregular power spikes. That's the real debate that you should be having when proposing such a change.

Really not thinking so. The point of items being expensive is to drive you to last hit and play safe. Don't waste your time trying to out poke your enemy early. Focus on last hitting, and dodging whatever they want to throw at you. Laning is a part of this game, and CS is the key to winning. Just imagine a Draven 2 kills in (with his passive bonus gold) if these were any cheaper...nuh uh. no thanks.

This has been suggested multiple times before and the consensus is that it's not a good idea for the very reason you say you want it; it would make big damage items like Infinity Edge too easy to build.

If you ask me, if they choose to do this, then we also need to do something about item 1058

Disagree. Not trying to be harsh, but there's a reason that there's a high tier AD and AP item (item 1058). I wouldn't want blasting wand to build into needlessly large either. It's an important difference in the game; it can define the laning phase when one person has enough for it and the other doesn't. I see this as a good thing.

Okay, thank you all for giving me your opinion.

Since Riot made defensive items build up, I could see it happening one day. But the idea with expensive items is that players have to commit to buying them. This concept used to apply to Giant's Belt too.
