Hoping for Something More

As we are all aware of, Dominion is no more. This has unfortunately put some of the player base in an unusual position. Let me explain.

In Dominion, players were able to chose the champion they wanted and play in a fast paced game mode similar to the same pace as an ARAM match. Those players were able to enjoy the fast paced environment that was complimented with a unique capture the control point aspect. Although this mode was rather unbalanced item wise, it still offered a rather exhilarating experience. Now that Dominion is gone, those of us that that enjoyed playing Dominion are forced to play the VERY slow paced normal and or ranked game mode. Summoners that played Dominion were those looking for a fast paced game mode as well as a mode that offered something else outside of the typical normal/ ranked game mode. Now most of us are stuck with either playing yet another normal game mode or choosing to play a few rounds of ARAM.

Now let's talk about ARAM a bit. ARAM game mode offers players the fast paced environment that Dominion did but with a narrow map and no recall. I myself enjoy the fact that I can focus on getting kills instead of micromanaging CS and the CD's of my summoners and abilities, as well as having to keep an eye out for the enemy lurking in the jungle. Now, don't get me wrong. A lot of individuals love the normal/ ranked game modes for its competitiveness, but even those who are drawn to its calling get burnt out from time to time. These players are then forced to chose between bot games, a smaller version of a normal game (3v3), or ARAM. Sure, there are custom game modes, but without the popular custom game mode map Dominion offered, there is little for the player base to do other than play some other game all together.

I suppose all I am asking for is more variety. Why not just give the community the opportunity to play one of the unique game modes that have been created throughout the years? I am not the first to mention this, nor will I be the last. The Summoners are craving for a week of URF, One for All, Legend of the Poro King, Doom bots of Doom, etc. Even without constant tweaking, balancing, and updating, Dominion was still a place many players called home and still played exclusively. Every other game mode given to us was essentially the same. Yea sure, people complained about URF Ryze, One for All Ziggs, or players BM'ing and denying someone the hexakill, but people STILL PLAYED these game modes day in and day out. Why have these modes not been put in a weekly or biweekly rotation? If the only reason is a "financial" one, I guarantee that the League Community will be more than happy to pitch in. Most of us do keep buying these garbage skins just because they are new... but I digress.

I will always be a League of Legends players. The League Community is for the most part an amazing community. The streamers are amazing. The e-Sports events are fun fueled and entertaining. There are many things I love about this game. But I am almost always left with a feeling that this game could be... better i suppose... I will leave you with a simple question RIOT. Have you guys seen how many game modes DOTA 2 offers?

  • Sincerely, Your Community

Dota has so much diversity while Riot is killing off the little that they have. It's hard to find much motivation to play now. 3v3's map still sucks just as much as it did when I left it in season 3. ARAM can't play whatever I want and not playing Summoner's Rift. Guess I'll be putting LoL on hiatus until Riot creates a fast paced, objective mode to replace Dominion.

As the years go on and Riot continues neglecting alternate modes, it brings up the question "Considering Riot seemingly doesn't consider alternate game modes as part of 'League of Legends,' are alternate maps players considered part of the League community?"
