The fundamental lie behind aram

It's been several years now and i honestly wonder what the rationale is for why ARAM isn't Actually all random, as in all champions random, I think it's a little odd that all random is nothing of the such.

I think that the game's health would be better were it not possible to have an "aram" account we might see a little more variety of heroes rather than the same ~15 in every game because they're the "good ones".

The system is eminently exploitable and this could be very easily rectified with a small change. If this is a bad idea, please explain why.

It's not quite that straightforward of a change. Topics to consider, off the top of my head

  • The current system is much more beginner-friendly. Only having 10 unfamiliar champions is less daunting than having dozens.
  • A significant number of players (often casuals) only want to play specific champs. They're okay with random champs, as long as it's somewhat controlled. Whether you agree with them or not, it's how ARAM has worked for years.
  • The RP/IP impact of all making champs available in ARAM. Will players be less interested in purchasing champs? Will players miss the feeling of account progression?

The right call might still be to enable all champs, but it's not like there are no downsides. Personally, I'd prefer having a new ranked queue with all champs enabled while a blacklist/whitelist feature is added to the existing unranked queue.
