Is there any counter play to sated master yi?

The enemy had 4 ad champs including master yi so i picked malphite top. He was not fed and barely ganked trying to get stacks. at around 40 minutes in he was 8-10 but had sated devourer,bork,scimitar, and boots. Me, playing malphite against 4 AD champs had 670 armor, frozen gauntlet, frozen heart, randuins, thornmail,ninja tabi, and abyssal sceptor thinking those 5 items would shut him down. So i was steady pushing top and out comes yi. so i wait until he alpha strikes and then do the E and turn on my W and start slapping him. i lasted 3 seconds. he chopped me up. he did 1100 true damage with wuju style and didnt lose an ounce of health. how do you counter play yi? and dont say "your a bronzie he is easy" im gold 2

I'll tell you what the answer is not: 1v1ing him as a tank. Malphite shits on ad champions because of the attack speed slow and high armor (seriously, you had only one hp item). Yi has true damage and ignores as slows. You could not have picked a worse strategy for fighting him.

Force him to teamfight and apply lockdown. Even with a bruiser build he is vulnerable to lockdown, and can be peeled without huge difficulty. With no added hp or armor, that enemg yi would have exploded during the duration of your ult. Do not try to 1v1 unless you have a champion built to do that.

From what I've seen, heavy CC combined with focusing him down immediately. It doesn't matter how bad he is, a 40-min Yi can pretty much outduel anyone besides Xin or Jax.

The bottom line is that you'll not winning against Master Yi alone, without some form of hard CC and a helluva, HELLUVA lot of burst damage.

Yes, you have to be a strong duelist with a bit of CC. You need bursty damage.

Vi destroys most Yi's pretty easily because she can chain CC him and burst him down, he can't use meditate when done properly and your E/shreds destroy him.

Ranged ADCs are pretty good at popping him if they have vision or just one person ccing. Yi can also be like 3 shot by Twitch. He doesn't get to do that much if Twitch is in ult and gets the drop on the Yi.

Shyvana can just duel him. Xin and Jax not as much.

Yi excels in 1v1s but unless he's really far ahead, he's not that great at teamfighting and since his location after alpha is predictable, he can just be locked down.

Malphite is one of the worst performers against Yi.
