Leagues is on a downhill for me and i dont have fun now. What are peoples opinions on the game now?

Big Muff··48 votes·5,484 views

Everytime i play, the winning team is happy, and the losing team is always angry at someone. Just today i played my series and had a troll walk around as garen and feed lanes on purpose. I got really really frustrated and yelled at him and told him to stop being a little pussy and ruin the game for everyone. In the end i got banned from that even though i was clearly showing my anger towards someone who deserved it. When a team loses they always complain about another player and rips them apart and people spend the majority of the game typing instead of playing. I find it hard to believe that many people even play this game for fun anymore. for so many players losing in the game is like losing your own life and suck all the fun out of the game for me by them getting super angry if you do something wrong. A videogame is meant to be fun but ever time i play thats exactly what i dont see.

I made this post to hopefully get a bunch of people telling me why they like or dislike the game so hopefully i can see that please and thank you.

They made too many changes for the sake of competitive play, and now they've stacked up and everyone is finally starting to realize how bad they are.

Rew7113 votes

I saw this way back when I first stepped foot into Ranked back in Season 3. I realized these things and even tried to say them on this here Boards. I realized this when my friend, who is calm and collected when you meet him, starts a complete argument in game if you do something wrong.

I also got a regular 10 or more down votes because of it, from people who stated the game was fun and I quote "get use to it". Where is the fun, when people care about winning over just playing? I honestly think there is more than that... and others apparently do to.

There is a lack of fun, when you can't even play the colorful cast of champions. It takes years to get them all if you are smurfing or are new to the game. Then you can start on buying Runes.

Can't name the amount of people who come to normals (to relax) and look up my personal info and see I haven't even gotten Runes yet. Well, at least teir 3.

Then, when competitive modes like Dominion get taken away (modes that people could care less losing in), we are left to go to the places where winning matters. Even ARAMs starting to look that way.

I suggested before that ShowDown should return as a permanent replacement as a new fast paced game mode featured in Butcher's Bridge. But, I don't think people care for it like I'd hoped...

I thought everything was fine

Then they decided to be anti-fun and remove Dominion

GamtheGamer9 votes

Yea, I hate how in ranked I rarely get a balanced game. Nearly every game(not so much normals anymore), I would get stuck with a team that either starts feeding from the start and no matter how kindly you give them advice they don't listen, or no matter how many times you ping for a gank they don't notice. In the majority of these games my team is extremely toxic as well and blames everything on the people who basically have the world on their shoulders with how hard they're carrying and then those being toxic continue to feed or just not help the team. And on top of my team feeding the other team ends up being a full pre-made with plenty of communication and no-one is hating on anyone, meanwhile there's no hope of getting my team to say one nice thing.

Here's an idea, take a break from reworking gameplay, and rework the matchmaking system to all hell

Retillin4 votes

It's not really the matchmaking system truth be told. It's that Riot keeps pushing snowballing harder and harder. (minion buffs for winning team, dragon buffs make the towers even weaker so strong team dominates more, ect.)

Mhihnj2 votes

I thought the minion buffs were for the losing team. Looks like I read the patch notes wrong

Retillin3 votes

If you are ahead in XP, your minions do more dmg to the enemy minions. If you are ahead in towers, your minions do more dmg to enemy towers. So the wave pushes towards the losing team. Riot's goal was to prevent frozen waves by the winning team. But it means waves are always pushing (a bad thing) against the losing team.

Critmaster Garen6 votes

hard reset to 5.20 not even kidding.

then slowly try again with the marksmen kit changes, with the results of their releases in mind and use current numbers. without buffing the shit out of their items, and their early and midgame.

Retillin4 votes

I disagree. Hard reset to 5.13 (patch before GP and two before Fiora).

BetaDude403 votes

Personally, I can stand Gangplank. Just get that Fiora out of the god damn game.

aperson16 votes

The game is just too snowbally. Losing feels miserable and winning feels inevitable.

Big Muff2 votes

I agree the changes to turrets makes games end really fast with how fast gold can accumulate and now with dragon changes the slightest bit of objective control snowballs hard.

Man your post is literally my life. Everything i just from everyone so far is all soooooo true!!! If my friends didnt play league all the time i would've quit by now this game just makes everyone really pissy. Back in season 2 i was bronze and now im diamond and i thought all along that hey "maybe thing in higher elo would be better and i would get less trolls." ... i was sadly mistaken no matter what elo you are its all the same, someone is fed, someone feeds, someone is flamin.Brand

zouzou1234 votes

Maybe you should try to tell the troll how to correct his mistakes, try to encourage your team that the game is not over. Or just forget about the troll and try to win your lane.

Big Muff3 votes

Easier said then done everyone on the team sits in the fountain and crys. Its too easy to put people on tilt when theres a troll everyone spends the game saying "report garen plz"

alright.. i will bite for you..

i play because i am an addict .. i have been playing video games for years... League has an expectation of a certain time frame so i can gauge what i will do after a match..

in the beginning .. i played since season 2. things where crazy.. didnt understand the game and it was an experience. i thought they where just vomiting out champions and it was constantly disrupting the game.. in a bad and good way. Over powered un checked champions ran amuck.. Katarina players would be diamond as well as lee sin and a few other champions that just where unchecked on their interaction to the game. some of them have been adjusted due to item changes and other shift. other champs are now on the brink of obscurity from what i have seen.. Sejuni ..

league is doing what most successful people / companies do. they pay people to tell them how to make more money. with that investment then comes the community being left behind. Corporations .. are a natural progression.

i give them credit for some actions and feel they should be held to promises.

Wish they told us more about creating a champion with some people who joined with referred links. no credit was given to those people for any progression.. also i remember that icons where suppose to be free but they do kick us some freebies from time to time.

sad that dominion is going away but i only played it for hide and seek.

they basically shit on the idea of sandbox mode .. which would take away from what they want (i think).

playing new champions is ruff because i get thrown into matches of equal expected skill level sorta.

why i play .. i am an addict and it is my fix.
it broke me off of WOW so now i dont have to spend an expected amount.. which looking at the bank statement i have spent more on this game in an equal amount of time.

they are now corporate and if you know anything about how long it takes to approve a project does distance them from the community.

they fall short of leaving us informed on some things. but that also keeps them from having to spend PR resources.

some things make me unhappy.. shen rework.. they didnt give him a backing animation.. i feel backing is key to skins and changes now. i know complaining about changes to a champ i dont play just fall short of real value. but a universal expectation makes me sad to see it not being done.

The community wants to win. and any changes against them they will react negatively. Even thou they know in their heart some of the nerfs are needed.

are they going down hill.. ?? they are just distancing themselves from the community as far as any input now. Gragas bug was a know bug before worlds as an example.

Im an addict too man and i was in love with this game and it makes me sad to feel this way towards the game. Im a huge videogamer and ive played soo many and leagues for sure had the biggest impact on me. I think riot is really leaving their community thought behind. RIP dominion

BluePolarizer4 votes

The game is insanely stompy, low vision, low comeback mechanics. They think that DOTA is DOTA because of low vision and can replicate its success by making vision harder. No, DOTA is DOTA because it is DOTA and has dust of revelation, smoke, actual differences in base stats, etc.

That's why Rengar is either broke OP or useless, since the only way to balance him is to make him feel like shit to play but still with massive numbers, instead of giving him real counterplay with an actual stealth reveal with red trink. There's alot more champs out there that are broke OP or useless depending on the whims of balance.

Sozan54 votes

I was generally slowly losing interest in playing the game for quite some time... Now, it's been a couple of weeks since I last played and honestly... I don't feel like it anymore, and that's coming from someone who played pretty damn often since Season 2.

The game just isn't fun for me anymore (even though some of the champions I play got sizeable buffs). Everything dies in seconds (champions, turrets), there are some blantant balance issues, even though there are more champions than ever I feel like I'm playing against the same ones over and over. If I get a single kill in lane (top or mid at least) then the lane is over, enemy will come back with 2 levels behind and he won't make it up, unless I let him do that intentionally (or it's a very specific matchup).

The game became a chore to play rather than being fun. Also, not that I care about Ranking much, but current ranking system is a joke (5-man premade on the same ladder as solo players).

New champion select wasn't a bad idea, but they failed in many areas - for example, why is the pick limited to 2 roles? I play top, mid, support and occasionally adc, but I don't like jungle at all. As such I can't just fill (especially considering that fill ends up with jungle pretty often) and I have to select only half of my roles. This also results in longer queue times (there are many players that would select more than 2 roles).

Oh, and Yasuo kit is still the same - that is a complete design failure, but hey - that's minor.

@Edit: Also, pretty much all of my followed channels about League, no longer make much content (The Yordles, Dante Axe and Falconshield) or make league unrelated content (Dunkey and Crazy Boris), which also doesn't help to get me back into the game (instead I want to play Yakuza 3 and get some charcoal).

PL553 votes

I think it is true for a good portion of league players that they only play it just because. If you ask me why I am going into a game, I will not be able to really answer it directly. I only solo to roflstomp with an op champion, play a champion that looks cool, or I play only because my friends invite me. For the past two years I haven't been having fun in about 90% of my games, it honestly feels more like an optional job instead of a game.

Secretlolz3 votes

Amazingly well put game thematically, artistically and gameplay wise.

Probably the shitiest, most pathetic and awfully god damn bad dynamic game balance ever in any game EVER as far human history goes. Russian roulette with a revolver feels more fair

Out of game community is amazing In game community is the most cancerous experience I've had in any game, and hey, I'm saying this as an old wow player (!). Yes, shit here is WORSE.

A game not worth investing a penny in. The amount of free frustration you get is not worth the cosmetic changes

Silvonius2 votes

Well let's see: I can't ever play mid anymore (my main role) because it's almost impossible to get in Dynamic queue. I have to wait through 5 dodges to get into a game and when I do I'm playing with or against pre-mades all the time. There are people who only play in pre-mades ranked on the same ladder as solo-only players like me. On top of that the balance in the game seems to have gone to sh*t.

Never thought this company could destroy this game so hard in one fell swoop.

Big Muff4 votes

I think dynamic queue was still a mistake i cant play what i want because i somehow always get my secondary instead of my primary role :(

I've said this before, but I still don't understand how I can go primary support secondary mid and still get mid. I just want to play support.

I'd take Dynamic Queue over the "mid or feed"/pick order nonsense anyday.

I like the game, there are some balance mistakes, but it is a good game. I don't like the communities unwillingness to accept new ideas or notions. I don't like the toxicity or ignoring certain champs that arent played as often.

Or reworks that remove original champion identityKarma Karma Karma Karma Sona Karma Karma Karma Karma

The Loveless2 votes

Alot of champs don't feel fun to play. And those that do? Usually weak and/or outdated. Jhin is strong but he's kind of boring. Lissandra is interesting but she can't do much without dying in most cases.

Dar Raksada2 votes

I've mostly stopped playing, I only play with friends now. The reason for this is that I don't enjoy the game as much anymore, A big reason is that the vision changes feel bad, another is that I dislike New Champ select, a third is the general snowbally-ness, and a final one is that balance feels worse than usual, though I can overlook it in a preseason. Season 6+preseason has been a mixed bag, some reworks feel good, some feel bad, itemization feels weird. But mostly the game just isn't as fun anymore.

Elisza Kitsune2 votes

I think Riot needs to be better at banning trolls and etc. I had a Shaco INSTALOCK JG one game and clearly called jg first. Then i have to go adc and the team blames me for feeding....(Which in all fairness is hard when you don't have a support) and feeders who try to put the blame on someone else like "Jg isn't ganking my lane and giving me kills" When the jg is like 15/0

Vanjie2 votes

There are too many new champions, Riot doesn't spend enough time buffing and balancing other champions . . . and other ones are just way to strong.

Zange Utahime2 votes

Welp... i have to agree, i dont enjoy this game as much as i was when i started. Reason why i still play? I feel connected to some champions in this game, nothing more, i just have the feeling like "i want to play Ahri right now". And the second reason is because of boyfriend since i know he wont quit it. Why i dislike it? Well... balance is now forgotten, they deleting things they shouldn't, the more changes i see - the worse experience i get. Ofc i dont like losing aswell, since losing in this game means 70% of time you losing because of certain someone. I just feel like Riot dont give a damn, make stupid decisions and just camp for the money. Sometimes i really hope for this game to fall apart and never come back :^ I disagree. Hard reset to season 3/4.

Supreme Senpai692 votes

I just don't understand why they change things. Everything is calm and settled and fun, and suddenly...

"Hey guys! We released a new item!"

Nobody asked for it, and suddenly an entire class of champions are OP and another class are UP.

"Don't worry everybody! We'll nerf this item and this champion, and throw a few buffs here..."

But now other things need changing and it spirals into a vicious cycle. Can't we just balance everything then leave the damn game alone for a little bit? New champions are fun but honestly I'd rather see more lore and more upgrades to the game client/matchmaking/new game modes/more seasonal events/more skins/etc. Instead of one new little in-game change and suddenly the game has to do a 180.

Once black desert is released I'm done with League.

Only reason I even play League atm is "what else is there to play?"

TyroneWatermelon2 votes

Riot ruined the League of Legends.

Rei Evangelion2 votes

I'm pretty much done with League now with the soon to be retired game mode, Dominion. It was the only map/mode I truly enjoyed. Along side the removal of team builder, I am now forced into roles and game modes I do not like. Saddens me greatly that I am now leaving the game but I'm just not having fun anymore, especially with the majority of my friends that used to play, have now quit as well.

Impiety2 votes

For me as well. I am just not a big a fan of this new snowball meta. If I wanted to play Heroes of the Storm, I would.

La Barbotte1 votes

solution to this is hearoes of the storm and smite, nothing hold you on league, smite has a game mode called arena and its the best thing ever, and heroes of the storm champions are all unique to one another and fun to play

LatetotheRace1 votes

That I disagree with. Smite is more flashy and also less impactful as in, when you fall behind it's over. Arena also lacks real gameplay as it's less eventful than a 1v1 on twisted tree line.

La Barbotte1 votes

arena lack gameplay BUT its brainless fun, and it isnt true that once its over its over, you can always outplay and comeback since everything is skillshots and most champions are balanced

Sairentosutoka1 votes

you don't get banned for calling someone a pussy you getbanned for being toxic on many occasions.

as for if the game is on a downhill for me i play league on and off after a few months i get bored and quit then i come back

TTGOz1 votes

Lets just say I'm 0-6 in ranked right now because of trash ass players :")

I'm still gonna play because I don't care about winning all that much, just if I have fun and learn from what happened. I usually mute the person if they show any signs of being a dickbag. If you can learn to mute people instead of listening to their rambling, you will feel a LOT happier. Especially if you mute your entire team and the entire team is being trolly asf. Mute people off the enemy team if they're bewildering you aswell.

TL;DR Mute more people, learn to have fun.

The only reason you're not having fun is you're playing to win. If a player on your team ever makes a mistake that kills the whole team, DON'T call him out on it. Pretty damn sure he realizes his mistake and doesn't need an extra person raging on him. But if it's something innocent like getting caught out of position or meandering off to farm late game(These two things have literally contributed to all 6 of my losses, also people spoonfeeding my lane. I swear to God on my soul and future grave this has happened EVERY game.. jungler comes in for a gank, I die, he chases low HP enemy laner, decides to dive, bullshit happens, enemy comes out with a Double Kill, every game I swear.) and stuff like that, yeah be like "hey man be careful next time" and be respectful about it, don't be all "hey man wtf you just gave him a kill, you're literal trash."

BastionKross1 votes

One thing that bothers me is that issues that have been around forever are still issues today.

AFKs are punished, but you still lose the game that they abandon you in. There's no system that says "Hey, one of your teammates has been gone for the first five minutes of this game, so this match isn't counted as a loss or a win and you can leave when you like". The support role is heavily unpopular and has been for a long time. It took us five years to get a semi-fixed camera; something that should have came around during the beta; preseason 2 at the latest. Where the hell is sandbox mode? Sometimes I want to practice a late game item build scenario but don't want to play for forty minutes. Rune prices continue to be oppressive and champion IP prices don't seem to get discounted all that much. Certain champions seem to be favored when it comes to balance changes, while others get moved out of the spotlight.

These are all things that should have been solved/implemented years ago, but haven't come to pass because, and I'm quoting Riot here, "Players might abuse them". Yes, heaven forbid someone abuses sandbox mode and gets good at a champion without having to play 30 normal games. We certainly don't want new players abusing the system and getting runes and high cost champs quickly so they can measure up to their more veteran competitors. And certainly we don't want four people abusing the fact that they can wiggle out of a 4v5 loss. Clearly they should have played better and overcome the handicap or they don't deserve the LP. And we wouldn't want supports abusing their privilege of having a power fantasy. Why, can you imagine what would happen if support Soraka didn't have to buy a sightstone? Fire would rain from the goddamn sky, the icecaps would melt, the world would be submerged under gallons of water, and it would all be Riot's fault.

At the very least, Riot has saved society from turning into that horrible Kevin Costner movie. So we do have to give them props for that.

NoisyWormv21 votes

I barely play this game anymore for the main reason that it's not fun. I don't like having to focus on winning and winning only. When the main objective of the game seems to be "be good or get harassed and spammed about how bad you are", it just loses its touch. The only time I can play and have fun is when I'm with friends for the main reason that for once, winning isn't the only thing that exists. During season 5 I saw this a lot while in Normals and Ranked and now in season 6, it seems to have gotten a lot worse.

Jolly Rogered1 votes

I'm not happy with the reworks. They make champs so fucking over powered then they nerf the dog shit out of them. I only play a select few cause I like the themes. Then there is the Shen rework (holy sh*t) talk about completely changing his game play. I'm just slowly losing interest.

TacoTheKitten1 votes

I personally feel riot is balancing too much for the competitive scene now, and that isn't as fun for the average player. That being said, this is still my favorite game of all time. I know a lot of people don't, but I've still got faith that rito can turn it around. This is an amazing game and I don't think it's just gonna go down the drain in an instant.

Well,, i still love the game, sometimes i get a bit angry but for every game i get kinda mad i have a hilarious game where me and all my friends are laughing and having a good time. People worry about KDA and winning way to much. Sometimes play a regular and have some fun, try out that champion you have always wanted, Bring Rammus against Zed or Yasuo mid, have your entire team hide i a bush til five minutes where you all jump on someone. The game doesnt offer fun directly but rather leaves the ability to have fun by making it.
