Rune pages need to be cheaper

ReDesign··120 votes·3,125 views

Just a bit cheaper atleast. Why should individual pages cost 6300 IP? The runes themselves needed to fill a page can cost up to around 10k

Why should individual pages cost 6300 IP?

Cause money

PaladinNO7 votes

When I first started playing, I estimated my first 2 runepages (just the runes) to be ~22.000 IP. Think I ended up spending 24.500 IP or something.

However, the "pros" say you don't really need more than 2, and while that may be true, the real issue isn't in the runes or runepages themselves - it's the lack of ability to edit the runepages in champion select, like you can with the masteries.

Given how that is a feature that's been requested for a long time now without being addressed, I suspect it's deliberate (ofc. no Red will comment on that due to their "company policy").

Masteries are free, so there wouldn't be any reason why you shouldn't be able to change those at any time. However, the runepages cost money (RP) - or so is Tencent's preferred aquirement method - and only being able to change those while in the profile instead of at will, you'll be more likely to spend money on more runepages to get the various options you might need and want, as things are fluent in champ select (matchups, roles etc).

However, if the result is a lowered price on runepages, I want a refund! I've had 20 runepages for quite some time now. 2 free ones, 8 pages (2-for-1 sale) (25200 IP), 2 loose (12600 IP), the 7 runepage bundle (2600 RP), and the last one as a single purchase (6300 IP). That totals 2600 RP and 44100 IP.

If that turns out to be wasted, Riot support will hear from me rather harshly. And to hell with the TOU!

sreggad4 votes

You do realize that. This is why they won't ever reduce the price or rune pages. People who already spent the rp and ip would want to be refunded the difference.

PaladinNO4 votes

Yeah, it's so obvious, it makes me feel sick.

I don't do economics, but I find psychology to be a rather easy subject. And Tencents business methods are so transparent on the matter of Greed™ (or "it's just business" as it's more commonly known), I almost feel my intelligence to be insulted by their way of doing things. :|

sreggad2 votes

So it's greed to want to be able to pay there employees to do the job they are doing? Do you people not realize this is a FREE game? A FREE game that is being continually developed? Are they trying to make a profit on top of that yeah, but so would you. If you ran riot games you would be trying to make a profit as well.

I can guarantee you if the community didn't suck they would reduce prices on things. Not crazy low but lower. However if they change the price of anything you have idiots who are like "I spent so much IP and RP on this already I want a damn refund if you change the price"

PaladinNO1 votes

Pay their* employees? Pay them with what? I'm sorry, but weren't we talking about the IP cost of runes and runepages here? What does RP have to do with it? You can't buy runes with RP!

And you may call people "idiots" somewhere else.

sreggad1 votes

People spend RP on rune pages. Even you admitted to it. Not only that many people have spent RP on champions. That they would have bought with IP if they had the IP to purchase them at the time. RP surprisingly cost real cash. Real cash that they pay their employees. You weren't kidding when you said you don't do economics.

PaladinNO1 votes

Yeah, I've spent RP on runepages (and even champions), but it wasn't the RP I was asking a refund for if the IP cost on runes decreases.

You only got 3 runepages - no wonder you're so offensive here.

sreggad1 votes

"That totals 2600 RP and 44100 IP.

If that turns out to be wasted, Riot support will hear from me rather harshly. And to hell with the TOU!"

Which insulates that you would try and get the rp back also.

you previously state

"However, the runepages cost money (RP) - or so is Tencents preferred aquirement method - and only being able to change those while in the profile instead of at will, you'll be more likely to spend money on more runepages "

Which means you see it as a form of cash flow for tencents.

you also stated in another post "from my point of view, all I may gain from it is IP, which I already got in abundance (168k), it isn't worth the effort." which states you would try and get RP back even though you know they won't.

and as for "You only got 3 runepages - no wonder you're so offensive here." It has nothing to do with how much i've spent on rune pages or not. It's a matter of I understand economics. You don't get a refund for something you bought a year ago because they lowered the price since you bought it.

PaladinNO2 votes

Are you actually doing this on purpose?

Which insulates that you would try and get the rp back also.

Whatever insulation I may require, I don't need any protection here. Well, visual proofing, maybe...

Whatever you claim I was implying, you're wrong.

Also, that mentioning of RP was just to list how I aquired all 20 runepages. I was certain that if I neglected to mention that, and only listed the ones purchased with IP, someone would inquire about how I got the last 7 pages.

I said trying to get a refund wouldn't matter, in my view openly stating that I have no need for getting any IP back, and deliberately igoring any purchase made with RP. Because even if I did get an IP refund, just what the heck am I to do with it? Screw the RP! The EUR equivalent of 2600 RP isn't an hour's worth of work anyway. 44100 IP spent on the remaining runepages plus 150.109 IP spent on runes, is on the other hand a rather substantial time effort. It's actually more than a year's worth of IP grinding.

And giving that much time to a video game, and letting it go to waste if the IP cost of runes/runepages decreases, is not something I would accept.

So, the cost of runes and/or runepages decreases, I would demand a refund on the IP as a matter of principle. But making any post concerning this subject before any decrease actually happens, demanding a refund if it happens already now, is what I said I wouldn't bother with.

Now cease this obnoxiousness!

sreggad1 votes

See the problem with what your saying is... It doesn't make any logical sense. Your saying you want just the IP refund "because it's a significant time sync" Yet you claim " all I may gain from it is IP, which I already got in abundance (168k), it isn't worth the effort." that you have 168k IP, So even if they lowered the price by half you would only gain by your own numbers "That totals 2600 RP and 44100 IP." 22050 ip. Is only increasing your current IP reserves by a little more than 13%. Now if you have 168k IP I can guess you have all the champions you want to purchase.

You've stated you spent "150.109 IP spent on runes" which means you have more IP now than you had to spend on getting filling all 20 rune pages

Seeing as IP can't be used to purchase anything else and once you have the runes you have the runes for all the pages. Logically it doesn't make sense why one would even care at this point about IP.

Now RP on the other hand. Wanting that refunded makes logical sense. You can buy new skins for champions you don't have them for or ward skins or hextech stuff.

So your saying that you would waste your time complaining to get IP back that you don't need and can't spend it on, but not even try and get the RP?

Lets not forget that you're still ignoring the fact that you bought those rune pages and used them. Similar to buying a champion day on and they are reduced in price. Or hell when you buy a champion at any point and they reduce the price. Do you get a refund for that? no. Should you? no.

PaladinNO1 votes

The difference between runes and champions regarding the decrease in cost is very simple - we all knew (or at least I did), that every new champion will eventually decrease in cost.

We didn't know runes would decrease in cost before this announcement. http://eune.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/store/sales/starter-t3-runes-permanent-discount-2-weeks

And regarding RP vs IP, it's like I already told you: 2600 RP ~ 1 hour of work; ~200k IP (194209) is more than a year's work.

I can afford to lose 1 hour's worth of money, but over a year's worth...not really. That just stings too bad.

sreggad1 votes

They've been reducing the price of old champions also. You're also ignoring the point of IP is worthless at the point your at if you have 20 rune pages full seeing as you don't need to buy multiple sets of the same runes. and if you have 168k IP you have all the champions you want if not all the champions.

An example for a real world concept. I buy on launch an xbox one. a year or two later it drops in price. Do I get the money back for the price difference? No.

PaladinNO1 votes

I have no idea why you insist you have to compare real world money with digital, imaginary currency.

An Xbox One would cost me about 3 work days worth. Not an amount of time I would care about. The time spent getting all my runes...well, I've already told you.

Carpe Victoria1 votes

How does that make any sense though? You can't get a refund for buying a new champ early when it costs slightly more or for skins that you bought full price and then go on sale later.

You don't buy anything on the planet and then take it back to the store 2 years later and ask for some money back because it's being sold cheaper now.

Yet still there are idiots that would file complaints to riot support for that reason. So they won't change it knowing it's gonna cause them to have idiots complain.

Carpe Victoria1 votes

If that were the case they would never ban anyone just because every time they do they get a dozen angry emails.

sreggad1 votes

Dozen of angry emails from people who are already pushing other costumers away vs dozens of angry emails from hundreds of angry users who don't understand economics. Kind of a big difference. They are always gonna get angry emails from people. But why change something that's gonna increase the email load and not really change anything for the larger population.

Caffeint3 votes

You should make a new post on this. Will bring more attention.

PaladinNO7 votes

I'm not gonna bother with that - it won't change a thing. I know nothing will ever get changed if we don't let Tencent know about it, but as, from my point of view, all I may gain from it is IP, which I already got in abundance (168k), it isn't worth the effort.

Making a post about IP refunds will only get drowned in the sea of other such posts anyway, especially those begging for additional refunds in the shop.

But feel free to do it yourself, using info in my above post as you like (credit would be expected ofc.).

Yeah it's very easy to SAY those things...

Verdade6 votes

You just got bunch of free stuff from hextech so you can save IP. Geez, people are never satisfied...

A Liberal5 votes

Make all runes and pages completely free.

You shouldn't have to grind for something you need to play the game

Zeurth4 votes

Riot is a business and ip becomes completely useless later on. Why the hell would they do that because people are 15 and under not willing to spend money? Because they keep the prices like that, we're able to play a free game.

PaladinNO4 votes

Runes and runepages for completely free? Great, then I'd like the 150109 IP I've spent on that back. Will you see to it, please.

Idroold4 votes

did no one told u to buy rune pages when they are in offer say, buy one and get 1 free?

PaladinNO5 votes

Oh, no! That would require reading, and that's far too much work for most people. Much better to write a post here, complaining about "why is it so expensive!?!??".

QFT, btw.

HighH11 votes

because 1.Maybe not logged on when that happened 2.He did but he still needs/wants more runepages 3.Those still required the the price of 6300 4.That was limited time

New players and people who've played only 1 year or 1 and a half are still getting fucked by these prices.

PaladinNO2 votes

So exactly as we've all been. Why should it change? At least it's fair if it just stays as it is.

Doctor Jarvis1 votes

"Grinding sucked for me so it should suck for everyone else" isn't an argument.

Please, let someone who already own 20 runepages tell me this. When that happens, I will concede.

Hey. Your post got deleted and I thought I'd answer it somewhere.

"The only reason this would happen is if your computer is bad enough that running league is too heavy for your computer, in which you shouldn't be playing at all."

This was your response to me when I said that command prompt gives good ping, but in-game gives bad ping.

My computer is far from bad. I play Battlefield 3 at 1080p 60fps on high-ultra. I play CSGO without any issues. I play World of Tanks. I edit videos, create special effects, write papers, listen to music.

It's not my computer. It's not my i7, not my GTX 960, not my 12 GB RAM. Either AT&T somehow recognizes that I'm in LoL and throttles for some reason, or it's my patcher.

As I've said, I've stopped caring though. You can see I have other games to entertain myself with.

PaladinNO1 votes

Mmm, if that was the actual response, I'm surprised someone (someone, not you), could confuse ping with FPS. As those 2 things aren't exactly the same.

AT&T is your ISP, right? That's way off from my location, but it's not the first time I've heard people having suspicions with AT&T and LoL. Also, as we all know, the patcher is craply coded.

Spanked eGirl2 votes

This! Especially since you can't edit runes like mysteries during champ select so you can't vary them to fit situations without having multiple pages, but yet they cost the same as fairly new champs

NoSkillShreking2 votes

Riot: You're right! we should make pages cost 10000 too!

snake patroller2 votes

I agree, but I use RP to get rune pages, cuz by the time I farm to 6300 IP, I just get a champ....

But the runes, are....too....expensive....

PaladinNO3 votes

Again, what about us who already got every rune we need, and all 20 runepages? Are we, considering we've been dedicated to the game for so long, just to be left in the dust and ignored without any form of compensation?

It was bad enough having the "basic" runes have their prices being adjusted without any compensation, as well as no seasonal sale on runes at the end of pre-season like last year.

150109 IP spent on runes, purchased from seasons 3 through 6, and would you think it is fair to let others get away cheaper?

Mirkhail1 votes

Now i will go to my favorite shop and pretend refunds because the price of a product have decreased since i bought it,

Emperor Time2 votes

Already got like everything in the game, i need an ip sink.

Elisheva2 votes

Once you own every champion, you need an IP sink. If hextech chests were an IP sink, i'd agree to the lower price for pages, but for right now, you need something to use it on.

invisiblecat11 votes

I upvoted before I even read the page, this is just so stupid, and with runes costing so much it takes so much time to get a unique rune page

Shinirup1 votes

They are too cheap already. They need to increase prices so IP has a use and actually feels like you are gaining something.

DestructoDave1 votes

I'd settle for more 2 for 1 sales. I dont see why they cant do that every other month or so. Id buy some right now if there was. On both my accounts. Hell, I'd probably make a new smurf and buy some there just to have them.
