No point in playing ranked with that MMR system

I was plat III and then i fell to plat V due to inactivity... Then i had some unfortunate games and had 5-6 defeats while at 0 lp... And then it all started. After those 5 games I gained 17 LP in victory and lost 20 LP in defeat. Now just like that from chasing diamond from plat III, i have no interest in playing ranked for the rest of the season... Pls someone explain to me how this is fair...

I feel your pain. I have had a similar issue this season. So, I basically climbed to gold 4, then had a massive losing streak, dropped back to silver 1. Was able to pick myself back up and got back to gold 5. But after I lost 3/5 games in gold 5, I am now losing crazy lp for a loss and barely gaining for a win. Says my mmr is awful, like 1350. So I hopped on my smurf(I don't consider a smurf just an alt account I used to use to practice champs I wasn't familiar with). Well, anyway, this account was bronze one. I started playing it 1-2 games a day a few weeks ago and already I'm silver 1, and my mmr is 1550ish. So basically my silver 1 account has a much higher mmr then my gold. The issue I have with this is from the start of climbing I always felt my team on my smurf had much better players then my opponents, but on my gold account it was vice versa. Maybe it's just me but it sure is interesting how it's like that every game

When your lose games in division 5, 0 LP of whatever tier you're in, your MMR still goes down even though you're "protected" from being demoted, and you get matched with lower MMR players accordingly.

The greatly reduced LP gains, and larger LP losses are because your MMR and your division/rank are so far out of alignment.

I disagree, i put myself into a bad mmr spot similar to yours. I dug myself out and now get 24 per win and 17 on a loss.

People don't seem to understand...if you decay due to inactivity, your MMR stays the same. His MMR should still be GROSSLY higher than where he's currently at, granting 25-30 LP, rather than the small amount he's getting.
