/remake glitch?

Basically, I started up a ranked game with my friend, and our jg forgot smite . We were hoping he was afk because we didn't want to play with a jg without smite. He bought a refillable potion and then it said he disconnected. This was before the 3 minute mark by the way. I was wondering if buying an item means that you can't remake?.
