I went from getting 18 to 20 lp per game to +8... didnt even lose literally won like 6 or 7 games in a row

It does depend on your mmr relative to the mmr of those in your division, so if you were recently promoted you could experience a decrease in LP gains despite winning.
Although I do feel your pain. I'm on an 8 game win streak in flex right now after getting +24ish LP throughout silver 1 and winning all my promo matches to get gold. I then took half a week off or so, and played my first match in gold 5 flex, won, and gained 15 LP which was a bit harsh feeling.
The thing is I didnt even get promoted or anything. Been playing all night and just randomly out of nowhere it dropped so i'm not sure.
there's server problems goin on right now....
would that be the reason why?
