Why is it hard to get out of bronze and get into gold and above?

Been playing league for awhile. Got to silver first time I did my promos, sadly I wasnt that good at league yet so I was soon in bronze ( like playing Fiddlesticks ad because I didnt know ap was a thing.) Now a few years past and I've been playing a lot of bot lane ( adc Jinx and supp Nautilus ) and I like to think I've made a huge improvement. I learned lots of little tricks here and there and now with the addition of berries stealing drag has become more easy as well as escapes. The thing I dont understand is, why are so many people so bad in bronze? Do people just auto-pilot in ranked does no one pay attention to patch notes and such? People like to say "oh, if you're good then you can carry", but Im in bot lane. Im not the hyper fed Yasuo MasterYi Shyvana Rengar and Im not asking to be carried. I usually do well in my bot lane, but this is a team game and it annoys me so much 2 or more of my teammates feeding like hell or just seem to not know how to play in general. I get things like team members roaming jg alone when there's a fed enemy jungler out there or I get ganks that end up feeding my lane. I've been trying to get out of bronze 4 but I keep losing. I will admit that there are games I do bad but those are very few and rarely in ranked. Should I just stop playing bot lane and learn a hyper carry like the ones I mention earlier just to get out of bronze? Or should I just I dunno keep at it and hope for the best? It has been so frustrating and I needed to vent to. Let me know if you experience the same thing or if any of you also have some advice.

Looked at your match history....

Jinx - 38 minutes- item 3508 ?, no boots

Jinx - 28 minutes - no boots

Jinx - 34 minutes- item 3508 ?, no boots

Jinx - 28 minutes - item 3508 ?, no boots

MissFortune - 29 minutes - no boots

Jinx - 40 minutes - item 3508 ?, no boots

Keeps on going like that. Why dont you buy boots? I honestly am very curious

I don't like getting boots on jinx, many people will think Im dumb but they don't really help me much. MF doesn't need boots imo. For jinx I rather get crit, yes I will be slow but once the fight starts I get movespeed every kill or assist and Im also addicted to getting full crit and damage. I will get boots for the next 10 games, if they have a large impact then I will scrap my old method if not well...

Wants to climb

Uses 10 game sample size

Hamyuts Meseta1 votes

well, gotta start somewhere right?

Dynikus2 votes

Why are you building item 3508 on jinx? And why don't you ever build boots?

Hamyuts Meseta1 votes

For the crit, damage, and cooldown. Mana management is also a plus. As for the boots, I dont like getting them, I will get boots next few games and if they help a lot then I will continue getting them

ForFoxSakes1 votes

WTF do you need CDR and that much mana for? You're auto attacking people

Dynikus1 votes

Jinx doesn't need cdr or mana. All of your damage comes from autos. You're much better off with berserker greaves

MagicFlyingLlama2 votes

Franky, it is because you are really bad.

Things you are doing horribly wrong: Not buying boots (this is single-handedly destroying your winrate, i promise). Not warding very much. Essense Reaver..? Kind of makes sense if you cant manage mana, i guess.

Things you are doing right: Not buying runaans as a first item like every shitty jinx player does.

Hamyuts Meseta1 votes

Personally I dont like getting boots on Jinx, yea she's slow but once the fight starts I will be getting huge movespeed every kill and assist. I will get boots next 10 games, if they have a large impact I will scrap my old method.

ForFoxSakes1 votes

AKA once the fight starts you get dove and die losing your team the teamfight

Start BF then runaan. WTF is the essence reaver for?? Blaming "habits" when not knowing how to even build a champ is a major problem

lilpokfluf2 votes

No runaans is sooo bad in low elo. I've seen so many adcs just get run down and they can't defend themselves because they started runaans. There is never a situation where you're gonna use it how it is intended. 9/10 times you're going to be dove by a bruiser/tank and no one is going to peel. And you'll wish you had bought a shiv or phantom dancer.

MagicFlyingLlama1 votes

This makes sense. Too many people think you should try to copy pro players instead of exploiting meta quirks at your elo.

MagicFlyingLlama1 votes

Not an option to not get boots, regardless of what impact you think they have. There is a reason every champion in the game gets boots.

It is because boots are essential.

Things they help with: getting into range to attack, dodging skillshots, escaping ganks, retreating, stutterstepping (which is something you probably need to learn, critically important for ADCS - most silver ADCs just walk or attack, never both. Bronze is worse).

I wouldn't main adc to climb. Currently, maiming ADC only serves the purpose of ensuring your team doesn't have the feeding bot lane so other lanes winning matter. This current patch, bot lane is struggling to carry with the amount of damage present, so by maiming ADC, you're ensuring your team's ADC isn't constantly feeding.

On the flip side, if you're mechanically gifted, you're wasting talent you could be utilizing better in other roles, primarily mid lane.

people are that bad in bronze because its bronze, thats where the bad players are supposed to be, you said you play ADC, well you should be able to carry yourself out of bronze if your good enough, If I can carry games in silver as support you can do it as ADC in bronze.

If I were you I would work on getting better as a player. and in games try to lead your team. ping objectives tower, dragon etc.. call for ganks if you are being pushed knowing you can carry if you get feed. and if all else fails play with a duo and be a boosted monkey.

khorney1 votes

honestly if you want to actually climb an dmake a difference. then may i suggest that you start to play jungle. but if you wan tto adc still go ahead its no problem, start trying to make your own plays and let the supp follow you. also i liek to play naiut supp to gbut found out that playing taric was well more wroth it. ap supp works to like annie or brand. ap ss and zekes and you are golden

I would argue that movespeed is probably one of the most important stats in the game, because positioning in this game is everything. So, boots, bro.

idk why I dont like getting boots on jinx or any adc in general. I will get boots next few game and see how that goes, if they have a large impact then I will change the way I play

Boots are the difference between gething hooked or not. They're the difference between kiting or not. They're the difference between eating a Pillar of Flame or not.

Hamyuts Meseta1 votes

well they hooks are easy to dodge(thresh has long cast time and all blitz seem to think they're god), the pillar of flame is not so much. I will keep in mind.

ADC is the hardest role to carry from for a myriad of reasons to extensive to list but it can still be done.

The best advice I can give you, particularly if you usually win lane, is this. The moment you get the enemy tower, DO NOT immediately head back to bot lane. Bot lane is finished, you're the best objective taker in the game. Go mid and shove that down, or go get drag. Do anything other than shove for inner, because you're A. Not going to get it and B. are exposed to being ganked.

Once you have an advantage, it is absolutely essential you turn it into more advantages.

You wanna climb? You wanna climb?

Play Draven. He can get a triple from enemy gank bot. If you want to ADC, that is.

But other than that, you are just not good enough, sorry to say. As others have mentioned, you still have trouble managing item build orders, ESPECIALLY boots. Trust me, this impacts your game a lot.

But yeah anyways, if you currently are gaining at least 20LP per win, you should have no trouble getting out of B4, unless you just suck.

And yes, we know there are inters and afks, I'm talking about besides those, since everyone has them occasionally.

adc is the hardest role to carry in, like you can literally carry in any lane (are more lanes better than adc yes), however you just gotta learn to play the map, like you dont have to change what you want to carry with, it will maybe take longer but if you know how do match ups for adc and communicate with supp you can get a good gold, i played adc a few times,

if rengo picked, ezreal sivir helps a decent amount and wierd mastries as well, but who evers the jg your basically going against as a adc you play around with, if i see a eve and rengo, when i push my lane, i actually go ward inside there jg to see where there at and before i do red ward the push so if u spot a ward kill it return to lane , and a few secs go back no ward then proceed and place one trinket inn the enemy jungle and see where there at, if they cleared there camps u can think 2 things, there bot lane, top lane or mid lane, soooo if first option your most likely dead, option 2 there in the mid lane part of bot lane looking to gank mid or bot, or if top, you can simiply tell top hey there topside care, or tell top and jg to couter jg for a easy 1 kill or he gets a easy double kill.

grug1 votes

I am a veteran of 800 bronze games in season 6 and i can give you legitimate advice.

your map awareness is probably extremely dog shit otherwise you wouldve gotten out by now. lots of people get out of bronze daily just by pushing lanes instead of playing ARAM in ranked, this knowledge is critical and thats why nasus and singed are so hard to deal with in low ELO.

PhDs Nuts1 votes

Yeah, as ADC the most important matchups to look at are the enemy support and jungle. If they have dive, you want disengage. If they have poke, you want sustain (pretty much every non-Jhin ADC should have Warlord anyway). If they have a one-trick CC champ like Blitz/Morg, Sivir is a solid choice. Picking an immobile ADC is putting your life in your team's hands.

grug1 votes

your rune pages are also very dogshit, a full 21 ad rune page for adc main is feast or famine to the next level if you want to use that rune page you better make sure you never get poked. theres a reason mr and armour are in standard rune pages because they are safety nets to mitigate poke damage in lane.

ForFoxSakes1 votes

The first and only step required to get out bronze to admit that you're bad and put some effort into looking at how to improve mechanics, learn build order/powerspikes, gameplay and how winning the map works. Most people stuck in bronze refuse to acknowledge the problem is them-self so they never improve

Mawootad1 votes

If you want to carry as adc you should try picking up mf. You can win lane largely in spite of what your support does and if you're fed but your team is weak you can still solo win teamfights with good ultimates. In terms of advice, you want to stack lethality (build duskblade, ghostblade, edge of night, black cleaver as your major items in every game in basically that order with only slight variations), q in lane whenever you can land it (with or without the killing blow crit) and don't need to conserve your mana for ult, avoid using e unless you are all-inning or need the slow for ganks as it's a waste of mana as harass, and be overly aggressive with ult in teamfights rather than saving it for the perfect opportunity as if you wait too long to ult you'll probably have already lost the teamfight.

1

bronze is full of the people who can not play, because they people who can leave bronze. That is the simplest answer.

2

In order to climb, you do not need to carry every game or even any game. What you do absolutely need to do, if you want to climb, is to consistently out-do your direct opponent.

If you are ADC any role, and you out-farm, out-push, out-teamfight, out-siege out-duel and out-playmake your opponent, or any combination of the above that ends up with you being even a little bit overall better, than you will invariably win more than your present MMR - resulting in a slow climb.

Regardless of your role, out-doing your direct opponent is what you want to aim for. You manage that, you will climb.

3

Marksman role rewards very specific play style and very specific strengths in a player. It is worth it to try other styles, if only to figure out if the qualities of the marksman role are the most fitting, for you.
