Now in the tool tip it says that the burn is applied when doing spell damage does that include physical and magic damage or just magic damage if anyone could let me know that would be nice

Liandrys procks on ability's. It doesn't matter what damage type the ability does, any ability type, be it physical, magical, or true damage. Landry's will prock.

Liandrys will not prock on basic attacks or on hit effects UNLESS they are AOE, like chogaths E. EX: building nashors tooth or wits end will not trigger the passive, Despite dealing magic damage, they are on hit effects.

Magic is spell, spell is magic. Same thing.

"Spell damage is not specific about damage type; physical, magical, and true damage spells work."

So any spell damage applies it. As a sidenote, spell damage is damage from spells; this does not make it specifically magic damage, though almost all magic damage is spell damage.
