Are you Death Fire or Thunder Lord?

I was watching Redmercy's latest video about the new Masteries.

He was favoring Thunder Lord over Death Fire, and to be honest I strongly disagree with his thoughts towards it. I appreciate his opinion. Yes at level 18 TLD would supposedly do 180 base damage plus some scaling. Once per 30 seconds after a 3rd Auto or Spell with 20%AD and 10%AP, but the amount of damage would only apply to a single spell or weak auto if you're a Mage, but by the time you're at level 18 to do that damage, they would have sustain, mr, armo etc. With DFT you apply constant 50% AD 20%AP in each spell you have. So someone like Irelia, Talon, Wukong would greatly benefit more. Hell Gnar with DFT and his constant Rangs is bae. <3 Perhaps, I prefer the lethal damage you can already establish with DFT in the early game.

I'm not going to far in to detail in to this, but I just prefer DFT over TLD just because it provides devastating poke during early game laning phases, while in order to proc TLD you would have to waste plenty of mana. However now that I think about it, will you be able to do two autos, then a spell? Either way I'm a Death Fire.
