Black Cleaver and Visual Clarity (Debuff Indicator)
Why did the Black Cleaver rework necessitate removing the armor shred debuff rings? There was something very satisfying about hitting your opponent with a Shock Blast or Razor Shuriken and having those red rings appear along with your damage.
It also gave visual clarity to both teams so you all knew who was debuffed. If I'm Wukong with Cleaver and I ult, my AD carry and other teammates can see the armor shred and know targets are softened. Works for the other team, too. If you get hit by a shock blast by Jayce, you know that at least for 6 seconds you'll be weaker and take bonus damage.
Abyssal puts a ring around everyone affected, including minions. Aegis gives you an icon. Captain gives you an icon. Urgot's passive debuff has that little bubbly particle around damaged enemies. It's all for clarity and better player-to-player interaction, as well as making certain spells and items feel better to use.
Why, then, was Black Cleaver's particles removed? After all, it's armor shred and Wukong, Urgot, and Jarvan shred still supposedly do it. Why is Cleaver different?
EDIT: [image attached]: This is a game of AOE indicators, status effects, etc. a chess board with pieces, everything clearly marked. Riot has done away with "hidden power" in many areas before and added things like indicators to Morgana pool, Cho's rupture, etc. all for the sake of clarity and interaction. I feel like removing the armor shred rings was a mistake or oversight rather than intended.
