The problem is if you're trying to out tank him, you need armor AND magic resist. And if you're an auto reliant champ, you can't really build to counter his e other than hope merc treads will buy you enough time to survive

The problem is all the gold you spend for armor doesn't help against his magic damage, and the gold spent on magic resist doesn't help his physical damage. Tanks build one or both depending on the enemy team and which players are doing more. The thing with Jax is you can't only buy one and have it work as good efficient as against other champs.

If you're building all those items, than you're going full tank meaning if he somehow catches you out he will kill you. That being said I like Jax as a hybrid champion.

A champion who has those 4 items, boots and black cleaver will in no way out trade a Jax 1 vs 1.

Why is that

Because you will not be able to kill him fast enough and the sustain he gets from either BTRK or Gunblade will outheal the damage you deal. Jax does better in prolonged fights but he's weak to quick fights and hates being CCed (like most champions). He also doesn't do too well early game and can't handle being poked down which is why you see so many Jax players in the jungle.

you realize you aren't going to buy any of those items unless you are a tank? and if you are a tank go ahead and buy those items jax will still beat your ass in a 1v1.

She also isn't AA reliant, she has long range poke, and she deals in some percentile damage. If he tries to fight Illaoi where she chooses, her hentai farm will kill him. It is her kit, not her itemization, that will keep Jax at a disadvantage.

If you're trying to 1v1 a late game Jax you are playing into exactly what he wants, the point of late game jax is that he's supposed to be hard to take on by yourself. Granted those items help, but what you want is to force him to teamfight so you have people who can focus him down if need be.
