Bring Back Warmog's Armor to ARAM!

ANELE··14 votes·4,676 views

If you like playing ARAM, then you most definitely are affected by this issue. Removing the core item from this game mode was the biggest mistake Riot has ever made. I cannot imagine myself playing ARAM without Warmog's Armor. The reason why I think this is a big issue is simply that it takes away from the entire experience and the games taking too long to finish. Without Warmog's Armor, ARAM games are now at least 25 minutes long and sometimes even take 40 minutes to finish. One of the reasons why I loved playing this game mode was because it took 15 to 25 minutes to finish a game. I hope there are some other players who think that Riot should give us back Warmog's Armor. item 3083

I understand the argument that Warmog's was too strong on ARAM. It's honestly true simply because anyone could effectively itemize for it, including mages and marksmen.

That said removing Warmog's and not replacing it with something that helps the champions it was meant for (tanky front line champions) is not the right move. They need some method of maintaining their position in the front line, particularly against poke heavy teams. It doesn't have to be Warmog's, but it does need to be something.

Until a replacement can be made Warmog's needs to return.

Agreed. They needed to add in something that gave a large amount of bonus health, and increased health regen based on bonus health, armor, and MR. Something that a full tank would see high benefits from, but that an ADC building just two defensive items would not.

I love ARAM and I'm not affected by this issue because I know how to play the game without needing a crutch to hide all the mistakes made by the bad players who needed to use this item because they can't learn to actually play the game.

It's not a core item. It never was a core item.

It was a very good move by RIOT to get rid of it.

No, but sometimes its needed to win matches.

It's a strategic tool which some champions absolutely need to compete.

By removing it your just hurting both player teams.

Bad players don't win matches. Good players win matches.

Only a bad player would need this item to win matches.

That might be your opinion.

But I completely disagree with you.

And I have seen plenty of players win with warmogs.

And if you won the match; all that means is your strategy worked.

Meaning your a good team player. Or at least better then the enemy.

Warmog's shores up an intended weakness of the mode, that you have limited healing options, no backing to fountain. Warmog's allowing you to regen without dying was BAD for the mode. The argument "I need more health" is bad because there are plenty of items that give bonus health for tanky characters, just ones that don't INVALIDATE THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE MODE. It's the same reason GA was removed, it becomes mandatory based on how the mode is structured.

Learning about the way the mode functions rather than being upset that an abusable item is gone is a better way to spend your time.

But that doesn't even really exist... what you just said. The concept of limited healing options? Health packs now heal entire teams and give mana to all. Heal is still a summoner spell you can take with you. And healing supports are allowed into the game mode.

To say. One team can heal, but the other can't simply because they got 'x' champion or didn't. Is silly.

Warmogs should be allowed. Just as the abusable tear should be allowed.

MalrothDragonia2 votes

ok, firstly you have the aura that reduces all healing throughout the mode. Yes, healing exists, but limiting the amount of sustain is built into the mode. Healing supports are far below their effectiveness on SR for this reason.

The shrines are mini-objectives that teams are meant to fight around BECAUSE of the fact they're the only really reliable sustain, the change to the aoe thing was great for the mode, it made it much more dynamic than before. Heal has a long cd, is less useful the more you use it in a short amount of time, etc.

Your response still seems woefully misinformed about the intended gameplay dynamics of the mode, you should read the dev post about the recent changes, as well as the patch notes about the Warmog removal.

(also, yes sustain supports, but its RANDOM, you can't choose them, that's the point. Every game is decided more/less on better comp all other things equal. Not a great point)

No, I'm pretty informed about the intended dynamics of this mode. I read the PBE patch notes and meddlers thoughts.

I just disagree you. Completely.

And there are ARAM players who also disagree with you. And maybe some who agree.

I also don't think the AOE health packs were great for this game mode.

Interesting but not great.

the intended goals of the mode is not something you can really disagree on, it's factual, they've stated the intentions. You can disagree that the changes make it better, but they assuredly are aligned with the intended function of the mode. Like, they are doing it precisely for the reasons I said, that's why it seems like you don't now the intended gameplay dynamics built into the mode. Unless you're just saying you like stuff that makes the game easier?

Actually they stated a few times that they were removing warmogs, just for the current event in ARAM.

No where have they stated the change would be permanent.

I'm saying you can win without it if you know how to play.

Those that don't know how to play use it as a crutch to hide their multiple mistakes.

Maybe sometimes. But I've been in matches where it was needed by at least one person to win and without it, there would of been zero chance hands down.

oh yeah specially when u got a tank team and the enemy got vayne veigar and kind of high damage champs with shit lot of ccs. it isnt just about the skills.

DuskDaUmbreon4 votes

I'm sorry, but I like beefy tanks and juggernauts actually dying eventually. So I remain strictly against this change.

redniwediS3 votes

Considering the fact that Warmog's was out of combat healing, and that building tank shread effectively kills both tanks and juggernauts, I don't see why tanks and juggernauts wouldn't die with Warmog's.

Besides, tanks and juggernauts building Warmog's isn't even why it was removed, it was the mages and marksmen building it that got the thing taken out. The front line is the place where something like Warmog's can exist, and it existed there for quite some time without a problem.

szmeagol3 votes

I just had an aram, and we got a full tank team. of course vayne was in the enemy team. well i dont need to continue the story i think...:/ BRING BCK THAT WARMOG RITO!!!

No, item 3083 is against the rules of this mode. ARAM is about managing ressources and dodging, knowing when to engage. I know it sucks when you're full melee against a full poke comp, but at one point in the game, you just end up stomping them. It's not fun having DrMundo going in, killing a carry because of his insane damage, and managing to escape with 1% hp, and then being 100% hp in a few seconds.

On the other hand, I do believe there should be a global mana regen penalty of 30%, because item 3070 is a core item on most mages (in ARAM), presence of mind is insane, to the point that you don't care about mana anymore once you buy it (and it's literally your first item). Ressource management isn't only about HP, ya know ?

Karunamon6 votes

What resource management is there? Health is basically off the table, the only way to get some back is with either lifesteal (which you usually won't get to use much since minions are a fiesta) or the meager boost you get back from triggering one of the static buffs.

There's no "management". There's "I took a bunch of damage and now I'm basically useless come next teamfight because I'll get deleted by a single crit AA"

Kurt Hyzan1 votes

Yes, this is exactly my point

Saying you can't have warmogs, but you can have tear. Is just silly.

I mean it -would- make it a bit more fair if tear was removed from ARAM as well.

Then poke would run out of mana and not just be able to spam endlessly.

Because 'dodging' forever isn't the game mode and if you think it is then you really need warmogs if your gonna survive it.

Otherwise its one sided.

Wait so they nerfed soraka so she couldnt use warmogs in aram then remove warmogs from aram? Yep sounds just like a riot thing to do.

JarodDempsey1 votes

Its regen passive was too strong, if you didnt kill tanks then theyd be 100% hp at the next fight which was op. But i agree there needs to be a replacement for the hp increase and at least some normal regen bonus becuase people like zac especially are extremely nerfed without it

Escheton1 votes

Mages and/or marksmen actually needed to invest a lot of resources to get that 3k health for warmogs heart. Especially if you want it before the end of the game, because lvl 18 is rare.

Even with the champ roster being extended to 3 renditions of free week, you still see a lot of Xerath and Ziggs and other annoying poke champs such as Ezreal. Poke comps happen a lot. Warmogs allows teamcomps ill equiped to deal with that (which is largely random) to have an effective way to actually get back into the game. Which otherwise is just a snowball to inhib.

Warmogs allowed teams to fight back against a poke team when they where pushed back to their Nexus towers. To ACTUALLY have a midgame instead of a "well fuck, open mid" at 6 minutes when the constant farm denial and and well, death, by poke, has put the non-poke team back so much that even their ults wont save them.

Mountain Warden1 votes

Soraka was definitely hit the hardest by warmog's absence and I feel she needs some compensation buffs. But otherwise it's good ridance. Warmogs broke Aram.

ShumaˉGorath1 votes

Warmog's should get nerfed, not removed. Have Warmog's Heart only rapidly regenerate up to 60% of your max health instead or something
