Should I get Irelia or riven

Irelia is superior

Irelia if you want to win lane because of matchup knowledge. Riven if you want to win lane because of mechanics.

Riven? i feel like shes stronger atm and irelia needs a few conditions to shit on people

Depends on your play style

I'm a really bad player who has both, and I'd choose Irelia. This is because (for me) she's easier and also if I screw up in lane I can get back on top of things easier.

Both have a pretty good mastery curve; you can dedicate yourself to them and significantly improve in a way that many other champions don't offer.

However, Riven is very, very, very risky and has a lot of effective hard counters to her, champion-wise. The higher you go in MMR, the harder she falls of in effectiveness.

If you want someone that can get hilariously fed some games, pick Riven.

If you want someone that can get hilariously fed some games, actively contribute to teamfights, isn't glass cannon, and actually carry games where people aren't giving you 100% free kills, pick Irelia.

Riven. I won't hide I'm rather biased. She's super fun to play and practice at getting good at. She's perhaps the biggest reason I still play league. She's just so fun! I dunno, her combo based play style just speaks to me on a core level as a fighting game player.

Played Riven a couple times. Feels like her damage is way too low for a fighter in the early game. Now I know that's not really true but doing decent damage with her requires skills in weaving autos into her spells. Irelia is easier. Just press W, Q, E, tonnes of damage ez.

well Riven has no mana for some reason low Cooldowns lots of mini jumps tons of utility including 2 aoe stuns a huge amount of damage and a shield that's as big as a bull on steroids
