Why can garen have so much armor hp and ad

I just played a game where Garen had: 5k hp 300 armor 300 ad How were we supposed to win this?

because he built it? he had probably scaling runes too and you just dragged out the game too long?

yes it is. it was a 40 minute game and he had full build with 4 armor items and 5 health items, because you goofs build a terrible teamcomp.

he probably had 400 health from overgrowth at that point with his almost 300 cs.

your most reliable form of cc on your team was your own w. the ezreal didnt even build a gauntlet to offset your shitty teamcomp.

id honestly be disappointed if garens team didnt win that with their comp vs yours.

youre honestly not supposed to win against anyone with that team.

Not only that, but that Garen had Gathering Storm rune. At 40 minutes, that rune was worth an extra flat bonus 48 AD. Like having an extra weapon.

I see a lot of people complaining how they beat the in Garen in lane, but he was still threateningly strong in late game, even though he built tank. I don't know how many other toplane champions are likely to take this rune, but it's fairly common on Garen. And, ironically, it makes the taker more likely to lose lane, since he basically has no rune for the first 20 minutes of the game. But if the game does go long, then this rune is a beast.

Interestingly, the original poster opted for Scorch, which falls off in late game.

And, oh yeah, another 200hp from Grasp.

How about the fact that Garen has no reliable way to stay on somebody? How about the fact that the only reliable way for Garen to actually get on top of somebody involves burning flash? How about the fact that everything with range in this game kites the shit out of Garen?

Look man, Garen has enough handicaps as a champion as it is without people calling out normal statistical numbers for him overpowered.
