How Should GP Be Played After Trinity Force Changes?

As a Gangplank main, i feel as though the tri force changes really impacted his gameplay and effectiveness. I'm confident the changes weren't meant to nerf him, but rather buff other champs, much like the preseason changes to tri force. But even so, it seems like being a teamfight monster with barrel combos is much harder and impractical to achieve with the recent changes. If you build tri force, you sacrifice crit. If you don't you sacrifice the spellblade effect GP heavily abuses. Share your thoughts via the poll and let me know if you think Crit/hypercarry GP is still viable, or if Gangplank should be building off tank (Titanic, Deadmans, Portal etc.)

The recent Trinity Force change is both an early and late game nerf for crit casters. However, since Yasuo is somewhat hurt by this change as well (and since he's popular) Riot may do something to compensate them.

A Sheen and Crit item upgrade would be fantastic. Maybe Essence Reaver's build path could be changed to include Sheen in exchange for less AD. No one really builds it anyway, so might as well. Also, remove the BF sword from the recipe so it can be used on Twisted Treeline as well. The new Triforce changes hurt crit builds on TT far more than anywhere else due to the itemization restrictions for champions that build crit.

Iceborn Gauntlet could definitely be big on him with the change to Trinity Force. That said I'm thinking about looking into how the new AP items work on him for some APGP fun. Probably still isn't viable, but if it even has a niche use it's worth figuring out.

Critplank is still the only good plank tbh, I've been liking Trinity force > BFsword > Zeal > Finish IE. Building IE without any other crit chance feels kinda bad, so I'm taking it the marskman route.

Just continue building Triforce. The loss of crit isn't that bad if you buy high AD & armor pen items after it. Building Ghostblade and IE after Triforce still make it possible to nuke squishies due to the armor pen. Another interesting item to ramp up your nukes is Duskblade.

Build order example:

item 3078 item 3142 item 3031

Boots: item 3111 item 3047 (CDR boots are no longer needed if you use 10% CDR runes)

Then more dmg or some defenses:

item 3147 or item 3156 (get both anyways, just decide which one first)

Last item options:

item 3053 item 3036 item 3033

With this build you willl only have 20% crit chance but it doesn't matter as you have so much AD and pen so your barrels will always deal enough dmg. You don't have to worry anymore if the barrel doesn't crit.

As founder of the club TANK PLANK, I've always thought Gangplank made sense as a tanky bruiser since I started in Season 3.

item 3748 item 3158 item 3025 item 3053 item 3065 item 3512
