Pyke Ult Interaction

So I was just in a game and I was playing Ashe ADC and Pyke was the other team's support. Late in the game, the final team fight, the pyke ulted me, but he died before any of the animation went off. But, what happened is that he was just in the reviving animation and his ult still went off and killed me. I haven't seen anything else on this so I was wondering, is this interaction supposed to happen with his ult, or is this just an overlooked bug or something.
