it seems half of the junglers i play with don't understand how to use smite. what's up with that?

they don't understand why the big krug/gromp is smited with full hp on the first clear instead of finishing it off with smite. nobody ever steals them. but it wastes smite uptime, it wastes leash time, it wastes part of the buff that could be used on the monster itself. they waste time and they waste health. some also start with the wrong jungle item btw. talisman can give better results on some champions over machete. even shyvana's clear is better with talisman than machete with the AS setup i use...which is counter-intuitive.
