About Galio...

I've been experimenting with Galio a bit since he's on free week, and I really like him. His kit is very unique, but his stats don't line up well with what his kit wants to do I feel. His abilities work a lot like a poke mage like say Karma, but he lacks the mana to do this well, especially with the time delay on his Q and low damage/high cost on his E. I feel very forced into buying mana items and mana regen just to make him work. I've been playing him support but my first three items have been every game: just to manage to stay in lane for a decent period of time. Does anyone else play Galio and have this problem and have some solution? Does anyone else play Galio at all? Am I completely playing Galio wrong? I really like playing him and I'd like to get good with him but his low base mana and mana regen just hold him back so much at the moment.

not many people build this, but item 3027 worked for me with Galio

enjoy the item before it becomes useless in 2.5 weeks.

Most people just get item 1056 + item 3174 on him for mana, but i hate in general, even though he needs the cdr, (though never get as a support)

As support, you might want to consider adding item 3050 item 3222 (as required)

Also the mana mastery can work for you, and if that isn't enough, you can always get mana-regen runes.

I would stay away from item 3070 on Galio , he isn't really able to charge it efficiently and he needs defensive items, as said above, he has other ways of getting mana.

Other problem he has, is that as this is an AD meta, his passive (and thus, himself) isn't really relevant, as opposite of his armor counterpart Rammus which was even nerfed as he is made to counter AD, and practically everyone is AD now.

I second this suggestion. Also helps to beef him up a bit. It takes him a while to stack up item 3070

Mana regen runes may also help, if that's the direction you wanna go..

Thank you. I don't think I can build Doran's because I take him support, but I do get Athene's. I didn't really think of ROA, but that's a good idea! I don't know why I rush that on Zyra if I get a lead.

oh, also try item 2303 as your sup item, he isn't really capable of do continuous poking to make item 2301 worthwhile. you can even try item 2302 , but i wouldn't really use on Galio.

You are just supposed to rush chalice into Athene's man, It is such a core item on him, I main Galio and he is so good and op right now. Definition of Sleeper. People build him weird and that's what screws them up and feel like he has problems but trust me, he is VERY good, even against all ad comps, just don't build as much mr.

I go mid lane as galio. I take athenes to get me started, abyssal if im against AP (Usually I am cuz I pick galio only if I ban yas/zed or know who I'm up against). Then I might go for visage if their heavier on AP, or Rabadons if I'm ahead. As a 4th item, 5th including boots, I usually get Frozen Heart which takes away my mana costs completely, while Athenes just lets me survive. I build him pretty damagy, but one thing is to remember you want to health/armor mixed in too. Many Galio players will build full MR just because of their passive even if the enemy AP isn't doing well or the enemy team has no AP. If you want damage, build straight up damage as only 50% of your MR is AP. Frozen heart is pretty good in general, helps counter kiting, and synergizes with athenes.
