Cause you're not stealing 'life' when you attack someone with a shield on them. It doesn't make sense thematically, and it seems like something that would be an interesting tweak to the game.

Velzard of Koz1 votesBut the point of DoT IS partially that you can reduce what it accumulates to while it's ticking. Removing that interaction makes it simply delayed damage, which is measly excuse for type of damage that tends to be compensated by high amounts.
Also, If heals being a substitution for that on-go reduction comes to your mind, everyone and their mother can apply GW nowadays. DoTers would just buy GW and be broken for no reason, then nerfed accordingly and become dependant on GW.

PB4UAME1 votesBut they are the class mostly based around having self shields. Poppy, Naut, Malphite, Blitz, Shen, Sion, Ornn, and Tahm would all be borderline useless if we made their shields not apply resistances. Out of that list, only 3 are at or above a 50% winrate in plat+ anyway.
