How do I get an S rank?

League of Legends Match History

I've done a lot of research on how I can try to better myself as a League player, and I keep trying to actively do things that players higher rank than myself do. But in this match I linked, I did everything I have read on, or thought "Man that was smart", and yet this match, even though I did exceptionally well even for my own standards, I got an A, and my cousin in the same match playing Yasuo, got an S. I am not sure what else i am not doing, or what I am doing wrong. Is there some magic factor that I am missing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

For every 2 cs you got, your cousin got 3.

CS numbers is a HUGE factor for getting an S.

Also, if you don't count KDA, the rest of the stats you have are pretty close, but he has 50% more CS than you

It's based on champion, so that someone who picks an overpowered champion has to do as much better than the average for that champion in that role as someone who picks an underpowered one.

That includes not only KDA, but damage, vision score, gold, and most notably creep score as well.

So there are several factors at play as to why your friend got an S and you didn't:

  • Being Yasuo, who is very popular but also very popular with people who don't actually know how to play him and at the same time weak even in high elo's, the average performance your cousin had to beat isn't very high. In contrast, Swain is relatively easier to perform well with and not as popular a pick, so the average performance you have to beat is pretty high.

  • At the same time, if we look at the factors other than just KDA, your cousin performed very well. With a 12 kill participation difference, there was only a 1.7k gold difference between them and you-- which means they were getting more cannon minions and higher bounty kill participation than you. And they had a 45 higher CS than you.

I hope that cleared it up. KDA isn't all that matters, and for champions who generally get a decent KDA, it's certainly not the biggest factor in getting a high grade.

Boost them CS numbers up boy those are rooky numbers. Also, hit some towers and spend more time around objectives. Also stop dieing so much. 8 deaths in an 18 game is enough to disqualify you from getting an S in my book, if you're smashing that hard there's no excuse to die 8 times. Basically league of legends is telling you you're doing something very wrong and you should take note.
