Rant: Ranked is EloHell

Hey everyone, I just really have to get this off my chest. I started League about a year ago, and shortly after I dove into ranked. I have been working on my elo and ranked status for a long time now. Recently, I got all the way up to silver 1, and I was 1 game away from being in gold promos. After that, everything went down hill. Almost every game I would either have an AFK, an intentional feeder, a troll, or just people who honestly don't even know how to play the right way. Every now and then I would get a great team with awesome synergy, but those few wins don't add up to all of the losses. I am constantly blaming other people, and I think I have the right to, since a lot of the times I get 10+ kills, few deaths, and understand what objectives are. I am now in silver 5. I could practically be in bronze because of how often this bad luck is happening to me. I just don't understand. It is extremely unfair and it honestly makes me so upset. League is my favorite game ever and I was trying my hardest to get to gold before the season ends, which by the way, is in 4 days. So as you can see, it is now impossible for me to reach my goal and I just think it's all so unfair. It's such a struggle, and I don't know if any of you will be able to relate, but I just had to let this out. Ugh. -Gerbow (formerly ice queem pls) P.S. I just had to dodge my last ranked game because we had 2 mids, an unheard of support, and an unheard of top. I was the only one with the correct champion for my role. Time to get off for the night, I am so mad.

What riot won't tell you is that they punish the raging people. I've been down that road and I've been where you are. I was stuck in plat hell for the longest time, but when I stopped raging, stopped talking, and just played the game, Riot gave me teammates that actually genuinely tried to win.

If you want to get out of the situation you are in, my greatest and best advice is to mute everyone and don't talk. For the most part you are going to see that person once in your entire time playing in ranked (since the pool is so large of players) so why waste your time arguing or trying to critique their play. Figure out what you do wrong in games, find what it takes to fix that (whether it be solo practicing in a custom game to up your cs count at a certain time or remembering cooldown times off of champions) your biggest weakness atm is yourself. I know for a fact that players generally are good in silver, their problem comes in the department of when and where to aggro or fall back and what to do after laning phase.

What you should do, is the above mentioned muting, and using smart pings to communicate to your team. You don't have to type to play the game, and if you're spending more time typing then playing you're doing something wrong. Change your outlook on the game and the results will follow.

That's the thing. I DON'T type when I play! I know that that is definitely a bad idea. What I meant in my original post, is that AFTER the games are over, I go to my friend list and private chat with my friends ranting about what had just happened. In game, I am ALL ABOUT smart pinging. Typing is usually never a good idea during game. So yes I completely agree with what you are saying. I am just sick of all these trolls who intentionally feed or AFK... I get so many on my teams. And it ruins the entire game, you know? I am just stuck and no matter how good I do individually, I can't climb my way back up like this.

This is probably the most solid advice you can get when it comes to playing in situations that make you rage.

Just switch to autopilot mode and ping when necessarily and you'll be golden.

Basically this. Also another thing is if you actually do talk to people, at least in lower tiers people are EXTREMELY sensitive and will go on full rage/feed mode if you say ANYTHING about them doing something wrong, so not talking is usually the best way to go. Also right now is probably the WORST time to be trying to get your rewards because people who want them gold rewards REALLY want it and become all mopey and give up as soon as the game doesn't go well for them, despite the fact that if they just played it out they would win. Just use smart ping and communicate things with the bare minimum and you should do okay. As to winning games, not much you can do outside doing the best you can. If your teammates feed all lanes... well there isn't much chance to win so good luck :(.

I had the exact same problem when I came back after a break. Started in promos for Silver 2, dropped to silver 5 0 LP. Trying to get back in S3 now. The quality of teammates varies so wildly I just don't get it. If silver players can have skill levels so different maybe they need to break silver up more.

110% agree with this!!!!!!

Ranked (atleast in my crappy bronze 1 level) is kinda pot luck, you get matched with either really good people or really bad people. I've never had a match where both teams have really been equal.

Its also devestating when your in your promo games and there is a AFK or DC in the team... there needs to be something to "stop that promo game from coutning as a loss"

got your feels, bro.

I have trovelled long why from silver to plat 1 just to drop back to plat 5. Though it was due to my loss of skill, i guess.

When I got into plat1 I started to get afkers and ragers - effect was that I started to play less, my skill dropped and I started to lose more. In these situations it is probably just best to mute them all. play your game and do not cling to the result of the game.

Yeah, I mean I guess I could just start muting all players before we even leave the base every game... I don't really know what good that will do me but I just miss being in a higher elo so bad. I don't belong in s5 and I feel so trapped now because I can't get 1 game where nothing goes wrong. :(

You could try DuoQ.

At the very least you'll have one person who's got your back. Most people find that sometimes just knowing that you have someone on your side helps.

Yeah man. I've tried Duo Q plenty of times, it's almost the same. Win some, lose some. I guess I'm just going to have to try for gold next season... :( sigh. Disappointment.
