Nami's current state isn't up to with most supports!

Hey, there!

First of all, I want to say that Nami is currently a little bit weak compared to most supps because of her spells having high mana costs and her low base mana. I feel like I have to rush Chalice of Harmony/Manaregen item every single time before I purchase the more important supp items.

  • (Q) Aqua Prison Cost: 60 Mana
  • (W) Ebb and Flow Cost: 70/85/100/115/130 Mana
  • (E) Tidecaller's Blessing Cost: 55/60/65/70/75 Mana

As you can see, the mana costs on Q and E especially W are a little bit too high early on and also for the entirety of the game. Why even the entirety of the game ? For example on a long fight you have to make decisions for what spells you wanna cast: Heal your team, use W? Or try to buff your teammates with E and catch somebody with your Q, but after a full rotation you have already drained a lot of mana.

Also Manaflow Band is really a nice touch to have maybe 3-4 more casts during the laning phase, but the laning phase is still really nerv-breaking because trading as Nami doesn't feel right as her W is 70 mana on Lv1! and upwards it's going even higher surpassing her ult mana costs...

Lulu's (E) Help, Pix! Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 Mana compared to Nami's W mana costs is really low, but it provides the same effect in some sense.

I do not think Nami is that weak at all, her kit is really special and I like to play her a lot, but I suffer every time because I have to consider which spells I want to cast or healing up your team draines my mana so quickly. She isn't a tank support, however she is a heal/buff support with disengage/engage spells, so she should be on the same level as Sona/Lulu/Janna with mana costs...

All enchanters have the same MP5 (and apparently Kayn, WTH, why does Kayn that such high MP5?). But her level 1 MP is higher than all other Enchanters. Her latter costs of Q and E are good while W goes high, it is nothing compared to Janna's Q or E. But Enchanters are designed to survive with lots of regen, not actual mana. After the first like 2 support mana regen items, you should be fine.

Here's a idea, get item 3174 first item anyway. It's passive with items like Ardent and Redeption after will boost her power. Plus with Aery, her E can shield therefore you can E an ADC or tank, healing them with Athene's passive, shielding them with Aery, giving them a slow with the E and if you have Ardent complete some attack speed too. 1 E does all that. Save your W for later in the fight or the extra poke and random heals needed.

Nami should the should be the support other Enchanters are balanced around, if she's doing badly, you know something has gone wrong. If she's being banned, you definitely know something is wrong.

Well, I play her like you mentioned it here, but there is definetely something wrong with her mana costs on W.

That is maybe the only thing I would tweak on her kit, but I would welcome maybe 30 mana less on her heal sometimes.

Maybe start with 60 base mana and go up to 100 Mana on Lv5 on W.

I get you but sadly less cost means they'd have to reduce the heal or damage too. It's high cost is because it's a point and click damage ability. Not entirely sure it's a good exchange.

I personally skip chalice and just go straight for item 3165 . Once teamfights start, you're golden.

I also don't experience oomness nearly as much as I do on say, Sona. Plus, Manaflow Band alleviated much of those issues... I think if her costs were any lower she'd be a little too strong. Her heal is already very strong as it is.

Also, faerie charms (mana regen) build into Redemption/Censer, which are your core support items. So this:

Manaregen item every single time before I purchase the more important supp items.

Is a little misleading.

Antergaton is also deadon with his E analysis. E applies so many passives. I was considering switching to Glacial Augment until I realized Aery also applied Censer. Super strong.

How ironic. Yesterday, I completely destroyed the enemy team as Nami, and went like 6/4/19 or somethin. Dominated lane and even got 1 or 2 double kills. Now, you might be thinking now “omg nami opop nerf that fish.” But no. Thats how they keep her balanced is her abilities cost. Make sure to take Manaflow band btw

Like COMPLETELY fine.

I think her spells are high mana cost probably because they are one spell but usually do multiple things. Ebs & Flow heal ally and damage enemies, one can occur up to two times. Tide's Blessing enhance attack with no cast time delay and can be applied mid-flight projectile. Also both applies her ms boost passive.

I think Nami current state is good, if not great.

Bringing this one back to our attention - especially given this last patch. I've been finding that Nami has really been feeling the lack of mana. When you see diamond and master streamers have been running Tear on Nami, you know that she is getting a bit mana starved.
