Riven, the Exile
This thread is about my toughts on the Riven situation and my solution to the problem. But first let me introduce myself since this is my first thread, my name is Scivor i am a Gold 5 Riven player from EUW, i started playing 2 years ago and play mostly adc and top lane. Now lets start with :
Riven and the Boards
The first time i read about Riven on the boards or i should rather say old GD was last year around the Lunar Revel, you maybe dont remember it but she was nerfed that patch(4.1) and the following patch(4.2) that was just after i bought her so i dont know how she was before the nerfs of last year. I read about her on old GD in hopes of finding tips how to play her instead I found people complaining about how she was "ruined forever","unvaiable" and "unplayable". I also remember the "OP´s" of this time where Renekton, Jax, Shyvanna, Wukong and Pantheon at least from what i could read on old GD. Fast foward to a year ago worlds was over Renekton/Jax/Ryze werent the only toplaners anymore and Jayce was suddenly "broken" and the Riven situation began what I mean with that is the boards asking for nerfs, calling her "broken" (well i wanna see you surviving as the only one of your Platoon and loosing everything you believed in beeing not broken after that... but thats more about the lore) and claiming she has no counters. This situation only got worse as time passed with Riven mains trying to teach people how to beat her, people not listening to the advice and more nerf threads. Then we got the Gankplank update and the Fiora rework and for a short time something else was the focus of the boards. But well you know bad habits die hard so we got back to normal pretty fast. Next thing were the juggernauts. Remember the threads on how Garen was "too weak" on PBE or how we totally needed skarner buffs because he wasnt "good" on the PBE? Oh and Darius yeah he needed to be hotfixed after the juggernauts gone live because he didnt feel strong. Dont get me started on Mordekaiser and how he could never be a melee bot lane carry. But at least we learned from this that the community is allways right in terms of balance another shining example of this is Veigar and how he was useless until he wasnt anymore and now is an almost perma ban. What I am trying to say with this is that it is enough, I cant take these threads anymore, I dont want to go onto the boards just to read "x is op pls nerf" and 2 weeks later "x is too weak pls buff". You may say but you dont have to go to the boards well sure but i will do anyway allright. This brings me to my next point :
What can we do to end this
Well its easy just give em what they want Riot. Destroy one champion for the sake of peace. Show everyone that there will be no difference when Riven gets the Kassadin treatment people will find another champion to hate dont worry about that. But I dont want people to hate any champ and ask for their gutting just that they can feel better and dont need to learn how to play against it, I want you guys( the actually good Riven players) to try it one last time and teach everyone who is willing how to play against her. I cant do that, and I am sorry for that, because I am not good enough at playing or explaining to do such a thing. I know this needs the cooperation of the people who oppose Riven or who just hate her but maybe 2 or 3 people actually learn something and I think that may be worth it. They way i want you to teach them is to comment on this thread with tips how to beat Riven in lane, in teamfights and at splitpushing. I probably forgot something so feel free to give tips on that as well.
