Someone explain Match Making please!!!

Hello All, O.k. so far all the elitist jerks out there: I am not claiming to be super good, I realize you all say that we are were we belong, blah blah blah... Now for the question: I do not understand match making? I have played for three seasons now and am struggling with something. I have three level 30 accounts. My main account has all my champs and skins and is currently Bronze II. I have two other accounts that are both in Silver. I struggled in bronze forever before finally learning to stop raging and start getting better. Now this pesky bronze account which is my last one to get to silver is driving me insane. I have a positive win rate, a positive k.d.a and go on these big win streaks. Every time I get bumped up to bronze I same thing happens. I get last pick three games in a row and lose all three getting me demoted over and over again. My MMR is around 1260 at Bronze II. Even with my kda and mmr where they are at I still have to play matches with people who have horrible KDA's and horrible MMR ratings. It makes no sense to me what is happening. I just cannot get this account out of bronze. I am frustrated and find myself wanting to go on tilt everytime this happens and do not understand why I get matched with people who are not even ranked yet? If someone could provide a clear picture of why the matchmaking system works this way it would be much appreciated.

you are matched with people of the same MMR so saying theirs is awful and yours is good makes no sense really. also, KDA means nothing and doesn't affect who you play with. as for people who aren't ranked yet, again, your mmr is about the same as theirs. it's all mmr really.

Well, son, when a man and a woman, or another man, or sometimes two women a midget and a donkey, love each other very much, the man will court the, uh, let's just stick with woman... and they will make love, afterwards the man will get on league and rage because all his team are bads and other teams all master ranked.

You sir, are the reason why this community is so terrible. Grow up, get out of your mom's basement, and just stop being so blindly silly stupid. I have never seen a more moronic post ever. ever.

Excuse me, but your post seems symptomatic of a condition known as hypernatremia. I suggest you drink more water and if the symptoms persist, you should contact yoir local healthcare provider.

The reason is that you guys have the same MMR. I understand that it is frustrating because I too wonder how these people that chase tanks into the jungle have the same MMR as people who don't make these stupid game costing mistakes. Just have to hope to get lucky enough really. Also, if last pick is the problem, just go learn a couple of support champs. That way, when forced to support, it won't be that big of a deal.

and do not understand why I get matched with people who are not even ranked yet?

You say that like these people are worse than you. They're not. Unranked people can be placed anywhere from B5-G1. If it's one of their first few ranked games they're placing these people with ranked players that have the same ranked MMR that the unranked player has in normals MMR. It's the same elo they're used to playing at. It's not like you're S2 getting placed with a 0lp B5 scrub. you're getting placed with someone at your skill level who still hasn't played 10 games yet.

As for everything else, when you start ranked for the first time LoL uses your normals MMR to decide where to start your placements in ranked. After your first few placement matches it doesn't use your normal MMR anymore. What that means is that when you made a new account and started leveling it up you had a lot easier time winning games in early levels because you knew how to out play a level 5 player and so they started placing you with more difficult opponents earlier on than they did with your first account. I have a friend whose smurf was facing plats at level 27 because he's been hovering around G3/2 on his main and your MMR inflates a lot more when you have less games played.

The more games you play the more the system believes you're at your actual elo. Because of this it's not going to give you a ridiculous amount of LP for winning a few games in a row because since you've proved over a large scale of games that this is about where you fit in the system isn't going to believe that winning 2 or 3 in a row means you're necessarily better than your opponents.

Pick order is a random decision now so I doubt you're last pick in all of your promos but if you are and you're losing because you're last pick then you don't really deserve to climb. You should be able to fill and not feed in your games. If there's really a role that you aren't comfortable with for your promos and you're last pick politely list your preferences and the role that you feel you are least adept to play in ranked so that your team can work with you.

If you're consistently winning ranked games you will rise. I'm looking at your Lolking chart right now. It doesn't actually look like you've been that active recently as you have no data points between a month's span. Other than that looking at your match history you have almost a 70% winrate with Kat and you lost with her, you lost your first ranked game as Amumu, you lost your 50% winrate with Thresh that last lose. Those are your last 3 loses. You can't blame those on being 'last pick' (since I'm gonna assume that was a set of promos for you) if you're playing champions you do well on. I've played over 76% of my games as support in ranked, if I'm last pick and I get support I can't blame losing on getting last pick, In fact if you're lower on the pick ladder and you get your main it means you can either counterpick (if you're versed in the many champions of your lane) or at least avoid being hard countered (as the enemy team is more likely to have picked your lane opponent).

You'll get to Silver when you get to Silver. In fact you'll probably be placed in Silver 5 or 4 next season if you do well on your placements.

O.k. so I get what you are saying, but I think you might have read that I do not play support, or that I do not like support. That is not true I love playing support and do it willingly when it comes up. What I mean is when I have a nice win rate, not great, but not bad for bronze, and then I lolnexus the match I am in I get stuck in promos with people who consistently feed and must be getting carried. My win rate vs. my kda is from me trying to improve every game that I play. You cannot take the last three games and use that as sample for comparison. I have already reached silver on two other accounts, but am having a very hard time getting this account to silver. It makes no sense why when I get promoted into B1 that I lose three games every single time getting me demoted. If you look me up on op.gg you will see my mmr is near 100 points higher than the average mmr rating. So why is it that when I go on large winning sprees it is like riot forces me to play with idiots to level out my win rating. It keeps me as close to 50% win rate as possible. I play consistently, I do not change that much from game to game and I highly doubt you do either.

I never said you don't like support. You stated that you get to your promos end up last pick 3 games in a row and then lose. I pointed out that your last 3 loses were all as champions that you had multiple ranked games on with good winrates and you still lost those games so being last pick shouldn't have made a difference. The support reference was me making a basic comparison. If you're pretty much last pick, you play a lot of Kat, have a great winrate with Kat, and get to go mid and have a chance to play Kat you can't blame being last pick on losing that match. I mentioned support because I said what you were claiming would be like me crying because I got stuck as last pick and had to support when 76% of my games are as support. If you still are playing a role/champ you're adequate in you can't blame last pick on losing your promos. Which is what you originally contributed part of the problem to.

and then I lolnexus the match I am in I get stuck in promos with people who consistently feed and must be getting carried.

Never assume that how they've played the champion in the past will determine how they play the champion in the present. That's your first mistake. You don't assume because your Orianna averages 3/7/10 that she is going to feed and do well. You don't assume you have to carry her or that she's going to make stupid plays, you watch how she plays and assess how to deal with her based on the current situation. You don't know how much practice she's had since her last Orianna game in ranked, you don't know how much she's improved, Lolnexus isn't going to tell you much about her shot calling or if she'll follow up on your plays and you're setting yourself up for failure by looking at lolnexus and then thinking you have to carry just because you think everybody else is a feeder. Obviously they can't consistently feed or they wouldn't be in a higher tier of their division they'd be in 4/5 not 1/2 and if you're playing with B4/5s on your team you wouldn't be complaining about a higher MMR.

So why is it that when I go on large winning sprees it is like riot forces me to play with idiots to level out my win rating.

Because you look up a few stats and automatically think everyone with a bad KDA is an idiot? Thinking of them as people who will try their best and work with you is a lot better than thinking they're feeders and idiots. Keeping them focused on dragons and towers, pinging for people to back away from bad fights, believing in your teammates to back you up are good things.

It makes no sense why when I get promoted into B1 that I lose three games every single time getting me demoted.

Because you're playing a team game as if it's supposed to be a 1 man team and you're not significantly better than the MMR you're in. Being low Silver is not significantly better than B2/1 and you're not going to carry a Bronze game by yourself if you're not immensely better than your allies/opponents. As such acting like you have to carry, like your MMR is so much better than everyone else's (In fact if your MMR is that much higher you won't have Bronze players on your team at all pretty much) in your games. You also seem to think that having won a couple more games than you've lost in a huge seeding of games really means something, but with the number of ranked games you've played 5 wins>loses isn't gonna do anything. It barely means anything at all.
