Who are the AP HyperCarries?

I'm defining a "hypercarry" as a champion with a kit more beneficial at full build than other champions attempting to fulfill the same role. This can either be through utility given, free stats, or a mix of the two

Ex, Vayne is considered a hypercarry because at full build she outputs ridiculous amounts of damage from her tumble, gains more free stats with her ult, and has % true damage to make the enemy regret being tanky. At full build few adc's can compare to her damage output, making her an ad hypercarry.

So who are the equivalents in the AP realm? I'm thinking Azir because his kit keeps him safer than most other APCs and maybe Kassadin because his high number of jumps+a slow+shield+damage reducing passive equate to being relatively safe while building full damage. But I'm no mid main and was hoping someone who was could point me in the direction of these types of champs.

Karthus is somewhat of an AP hypercarry.

He is weak early game, but at late game, his amount of sustained AoE damage is absurd. Even if you decide to focus him, he will have 7 seconds to devastate your team while dead. On top of that, Requiem does massive damage during the late game.

Other AP hypercarries I can think are Vladimir Cassiopeia Anivia Swain but I don't have time to explain why they are hypercarries.

Generally, sustained damage AP champions tend to be hypercarries. Sustained damage is extremely good late game; that's why ADCs are so good, and for the same reason, sustained damage APs tend to be good late game too. They even have an advantage; unlike ADCs, it is way harder to itemize against them. The trade off is that they don't take out towers nearly as fast, and are much more vulnerable to CC than ADCs due to the fact that they can't buy QSS and purchasing Banshee's Veil leaves them weaker for late game.

About the only two I'd add to this list is Azir and Kog'Maw. Both becomes powerhouses of damage late game.

Azir Cassiopeia Karthus Katarina (if she manages to survive she has ridiculous ratios on ult) Orianna (more combo-oriented, really) Vladimir Viktor

PS : Veigar is hardly a hypercarry, if he doesnt land his abilities he's completely useless, also though he's got huge (unreliable) burst, his DPS is pretty crappy compared to other champions, even if he farmed his Q a lot.

Also, on an other note, people who think Nasus is a hypercarry... Please, Nasus sucks dicks in a lategame teamfight. He's definitely a strong splitpusher but the fact he gets kited so hard and tankiness is futile against 6-items carries makes him really bad in a lategame teamfight. Really.

mh, i´d sort of count veigar in nontheless - his output with 1,2k ap+ is pretty substantial if you go lichbane, the change to rabadons made him quite scary if a game is prolonged.

apart from that you forgot Kayle, Sona (i know, it´s hardly realistic to get her through laning, but if she ever get´s close fullgear there´s nothing scarrier in the game) and Kog´maw.

But aren't all the AP carries supposed to do a bunch of damage? Perhaps I'm not phrasing this correctly. Hypothetically assume all the champions in the game are full build and level 18 looking for that final ace to win the game. If LeBlanc jumps in she'll get a guy, but probably die in return. By comparison an Azir properly using his soldiers and ult could pick off multiple champions safely and still be around to push after the fight. He provides more to team fights than just damage. Get what I'm saying?

Ekko, Viktor and Veigar are good examples though. Strong non ult stuns that aren't terribly difficult to land plus the burst they're expected to have.

All carries can do that at 6 items. The traditional definition of a hypercarry, as I understand it, typically involves the champ deliberately and successfully 1v5ing. AP wise there aren't many. Thresh and Veigar due purely to infinite scaling. Ryze, at least at one time, could roll almost pure tank and still outdamage the biggest AP carries. AP Poppy, though I wager that's fallen out of favor with DFG going away. Old Mordekaiser. Vlad for the same reasons.

the definition of a hyper carry is basically being a late game monster which both karthus and cassi are lord help you if you run into a karthus or cass that know what they are doing especially late game

Really depends on what you are going for.

Karthus, Azir, Cass and Anivia have really strong dps with solid burst.

Veigar, Kass and Syndra for raw burst

Swain and Vlad for sustain tank

He has a low-cd (with the proper build) snare nuke, a damage amplification, a slow and dot, an aoe heal that deals surprising amounts of long-term damage, self-sustaining mana pool thanks to his passive, and best of all he's fucking SWAIN, look at that backstory, mwuah IGN 10/10, badass confirmed.
