Jungle Rammus help

Oddballl··3 votes·700 views

Hi guys,

I've read a lot of guides for jungle Rammus lately but I can't seem to get my early jungle route working without losing unnecessary amounts of health and always needing to back before I can upgrade my jungle blade. I've tried attack speed marks with lots armor but it's not enough. I've also tried a few different paths for killing jungle mobs. Any thoughts? I want my early game to be solid so I don't waste time.

Also, I reckon they should make a Commando skin for Mundo and call it Com-Mundo. Just saying.

When I am on right side of the map, my usual jungle route is: Leashed Gromp > Wolves > Scuttler > Blue Buff > Gank bot or recall

When I am on right side of the map, my usual jungle route is: Leashed Golums > Birds > Scuttler > Red Buff > Gank bot or recall

After getting the buff and gank you should have enough for item 3706 item 3711 item 3715.

Interesting. So you're always in a position to gank bot with your route. How do you maintain enough health to gank securely though? Do you have more than half health left?

Edit you are right. It depends on your early wave clearing abilities. Usually I simply recall and get item 3706, But if you have good early clear or can heal from attacks like Warwick (different champ, I know), you would have enough health to gank if the situation calls for it.

This route is great against counter junglers like Shaco or Evelynn if you ward with pink, because they will try to rush to your buff trying to time it but you will be getting birds and can oftentimes just run or 1v1 them if they have low health.

That's another good tip. I was wondering about a way to deal with counter Junglers and that sounds really useful.

Counter Jungling isn't fun when it happens to you. The best thing you can do as Rammus is to simply alert your team. Early Game Rammus lacks an ability to stay engaged long term if he is pre-6. Ping like crazy to whomever is on your strong side and hide until you can taunt long enough for your teammates to save your game. Otherwise, dont bother trying to fight against the enemy jungler without at least achieving item 3068.

Be a cheese master and play him as a support instead

It's what I did

I usually start gromp, smite, take blue, take and smite red, usually enough for a gank, but if not scuttle definitely does it.

Rammus is extremely strong with the buff to Iceborn Gauntlet and changes to Last Whisper (also, it seems like nobody builds LW at all no matter how much armor you get these days).

Runes: Flat armor marks, scaling armor seals, scaling magic resist glyphs, one movespeed quint, and two scaling cooldown reduction quints. https://gyazo.com/39db1f13569512bc91e7cff7aabf83cd Rammus benefits a lot from CDR but has a hard time itemizing it. I like to take armor marks because armor is Rammus's primary offensive stat anyway, but you can run attack speed instead if you want.

Masteries: 12/0/18 with Bond of Stone for your keystone. https://gyazo.com/861e52fc3763a0689a2c8ab7381d7961 Next patch, Strength of the Ages is getting buffed really hard. Since Rammus has very bad base and per level health stats, take Strength of the Ages as your keystone from that point on.

Summoner's Spells: summoner 11 summoner 12 or summoner 12 summoner 6 Rammus has outrageous synergy with TP + Homeguards and is not in need of an escape.

Skill Order: W, Q, W, E, max R, max W, max Q, max E. Easily the point of highest contention. Most people max E over Q. Some people max Q over W. Some people put two points in W then leave it to max last. You're probably gonna have to experiment and see what fits you best, but the highest winrate order is W, Q, W, E, max R, max E, max W, max Q.

Item Build: item 1409 item 3047 item 3742 item 3025 item 3102 item 3075 Be sure to start hunter's talisman and three health potions. Feel free to swap in merc treads or mobis based off of who's fed on the enemy team or when and how much you want to gank. Deadman's and Iceborn are absolutely core, giving you everything you need to catch and stick to your targets. Note that your Iceborn proc scales with armor, and will create a noticeably bigger slowing field if your W is turned on. Banshee's is listed as the desired magic resist item, but all of these options are still fantastic for Rammus: item 3001 item 3190 item 3091 . Stay away from Warden's Mail items since they will also reduce your own damage output (fewer procs of your W).

I've been wanting to try teleport as a ganking tool and I reckon Rammus would be the one to do it with. Normally I jungle Warwick, but he needs an escape. Thanks for that tip.

When JG, I always recall after my first three camps unless I'm feeling especially confident in myself to grab the nearest scuttler.

The combined bonuses from item 1041 and item 1039 is just too tempting for me to pass up regardless of my health after clearing half the jg.

Attack Speed Reds, Flat Armor Yellows and Quints, and Scaling MR Blues are what I run on Rammus. I start Gromp then Blue then Wolves. Then B. Then I take Raptors then Krugs then Red. I take one or two scuttlers if any remain before my second B and then I attempt a gank if any lane needs my help. I take red second for the added damage against lane opponents.

I always take summoner 4 because Powerball is not a reliable escape. It ends the instant you hit anything and there are enough gap closers in the game for enemies to make sure you go nowhere.

Always build item 3075 on Rammus.

Other Armor options include item 3742 for additional movement item 3143 for extra defense against critical strikes and for the extra slow item 3025 for another slow and item 3068 for extra damage, especially when you taunt and enemy.

You don't always need item 3047 despite the additional armor for Rammus' passive. Remember that you are playing a tank so stacking Tenacity remains effective for you. If the enemy has a lot of CC then build item 3111.

item 3102 item 3156 item 3001 Are my choices for MR on Rammus. Locket of the Iron Solari is more of a support item and doesn't provide the holder with nearly as much defense as other choices.

Simple method that I used:

Runes: Armor Quints, Attack Speed Marks, Flat Armor Seals, Scaling MR Glyphs Masteries: 0/12/18 or 12/0/18 [I prefer Strength of the Ages, but Grasp of the Undying is a good choice too]. Starting Item: Hunter's Machete, 3 Health Potions Skill Order: WQWE, R>E>W>Q

Camp Order: Krugs (smite), Raptors, Red Buff (Smite), Blue Buff, Wolves, Scuttle Crab.

Small optimization: When doing the raptor camp, autoattack the big one, activate Q, then active W right when the monsters are about to attack you. They will all die by the end of your W buff without requiring you hit them.

Core Items: item 1401 item 3110 item 3742 item 3075

I prefer Frozen Heart over Thornmail due to the CDR providing more uptime on W and E in teamfights and the useful aura. You can change the order as desired however.
