Counterbuilt Starts in Lane

I recently went into the midlane as a Talon Talon with AD quints and reds, armor yellows, and mr blues. All flat. Started a Longsword, 2 red pots, and a blue pot. I went up against a Katarina Katarina and proceeded to completely throw the match for my team.

Now, what this Katarina started was an absurd amount of Flat AP (about 34 at Level 1 if I remember right), and an absurd amount of Armor. My guess is CDR, Flat armor, and AP runes; not quite sure.

At the start of the lane, she started a Dorans Shield and completely rolled me 1v1 without a gank; with my full combo (E,W, Q is standard I believe), I did less damage to her than she did with two of her skills + an auto attack; the minions were almost a nonfactor in her damage.

Anyway, it ended with her getting First Blood, and thus snowballing. What I want to know is how to approach the lane if the enemy (which actually may happen a lot in ranked since I'm kind of new) starts COMPLETELY to negate any and all damage, burst or sustained, while at the same time dealing that same level of damage you expect you can dish out.

If anyone can provide some guidance, I'd appreciate it.

Easy, don't trade pre 6. Talon gets out-traded by almost every champ in the game before he hits level 6. Also, if you want a safer lane start flask and pots not long sword. Starting long sword on talon usually means that you are confident in the match-up or are really good at dodging skill shots.

True. Thanks for the advice. As a further addendum to this question, he builds quite like Zed (except for attack speed). Is that the same approach you take with Zed Zed?

Well, zed doesn't use mana so a flask is not efficient on him. I almost always start long sword 3 pots with him, unless im jungling. The thing is, zed is much safer so he has longer harass range and he can escape with his w. It's perfectly fine to go for an all in at level 3 with zed if you have the advantage. Also, because of his passive its very easy to win quick trades if you just wait for it to reset.

Anyways, the only reason I usually start long sword and pots on both of these champs is because it makes getting a item 3134 much quicker, which is a good power spike and a core item on both of them. 90% of the time I try to stay in lane until I have at least 977 gold so I can come back with one. Or 1337 gold if I started flask on talon.

She probably skipped out on MR runes, especially if your team didn't have much AP or she wanted to take that risk. Runes don't matter too much late game, but they can and sometimes will decide your early game.
