Regarding Cho'Gaths and Garens silences.

Riot I've been playing since Season 1, and I never really got why Cho'gath and Garen had silences in the first place. Besides, since your removing silences from many other champions why not them. Also Kassadins joke does not make sense anymore.

In general riot has removed silences from the mobile bursty assassin champs, Kass/Leblanc/Talon, but seem content to allow it to stay on the immobile high survivability and low-moderate damage champs like Garen/Cho/blitz with the one oddball from this pattern being Soraka who is a squishy support who does very little damage and just spams heals.

Thank you for your input, but I have to disagree with the Garen part. His Q run at the speed of sound, and then he makes you for hefty amount of damage early game, if he is building damage items. And I mean with the recent update Riot was pushing "champion identity" and I really feel that the Kassadins silence was such a huge part of who he was as a champion.

Garen actually has pretty mediocre early game damage since his spin changes all his early damage is centered around autos and using his q as an auto reset you literally shouldn't even use spin until lvl 4-5 as autoing does more damage.

However silence is integral in Garen's playstyle to ensure he can get off at least some of his damage and to be a disruptive front liner. I couldn't imagine what riot would have to add to garen in replacement of a silence what even more q damage it already is a 140% ratio, buff his base MS, or the MS boost %/duration to even higher than it was before the nerf? I doubt they would given garen q a shield/heal like kassadin or darius that'd be incredibly unfun to play against considering his natural tankyness.

You have a good point.

Kassadin's identity originally was an anti-mage but the problem with him, and other highly mobile bursty champions with a silence, is how do you counter play around them? Garen you can play around his silence, he still has to run up to you and can be kited. Kassadin though? He jumps on you , silences you does his damage and walks away giving you zero chance to trade.

Anti-mage is a cool idea but all the things Kassadin had that defined him as such created very unhealthy play patterns, be it way back when when he could drain mana, his 3 second silence, and of course his retarded mobility. In the end toxic champ was toxic champ and got gutted several times over and frankly as long as he has that ultimate he will continue to be like Zed/Yasuo/Lee/etc and never have a balanced state. It's the price champs pay for having stupid amounts of mobility when you if are going to have that much mobility you have to accept you can't be balanced and will lose a lot of other things that made your kit "cool."

I would keep Blitzcrank's silence, nerf the duration of cho'gath's (2.5 seconds cmon), rework fiddlesticks e, Garen silence can stay to keep riven down, malzahar shouldn't have a silence in my opinion replace it with a slow or something. and soraka can keep the snare lose the silence.

"Better nerf silences so I can make my super flashy #LC$BIGPLAY$ with my assassin with 0 consequences" is what you sound like.

Silence as game mechanic isnt toxic, no need to remove it from all champions, just from champions that get really oppressive with it.
