I dont think riot understands that a tank should take a lot of damage not do a lot of damage

For the past year or more riot kept making items that would aid tanks by giving them damage stats that would eventually lead to them doing more damage by building full tank than someone that builds full damage. Tanks are supposed to be some sort of support with gold that is able to cc the enemy team and peel for his damage dealers, but right now tanks can do anything, cc, have a lot of sustain, they can take a lot of damage and do a lot of damage and some of them even have mobility abilities.

I really wanted to talk about this since gnar players first started combining black cleaver with other tank items on him to do crazy stuff. But the thing that really drove me to make this thread was my last match, and in particular illaoi. Ive seen her a lot of times, and every time i laned against her it was hell, because she doesnt have a weakness if you are playing a melee champion against her. Now take a look at this picture: http://i.imgur.com/UzYzRvn.png I have never seen a man build full tank and go 1v4 against the enemy team and burst them all with just his ult. He was outdamaging every other guy in the game and it makes no sense why. You might think thats because he got fed in lane but that wasnt the case, he got fed after the laning phase when he decided to go crazy and 1v2 or 1v3 with his ult and win every time. Towards the end we needed our entire team to be able to fight him and he would still be able to kill some of us alone most of the time.

When will riot stop this bullshit, its only gotten worse. Not only did they create items that would lead to this but they also made champions that can perfectly use them. Theres no way you can tell me you can pick any champion against this bs and win, even the top tiers would struggle against this.

Illaoi is a Juggernaut which is a subclass of Fighters.

When will people figure this out?

Illaoi is a fighter, not a tank. She's durable and does damage, but in theory should be a little less durable or have less hard engage to compensate. She's decidedly overtuned at the moment, but that's more an issue of the champion herself rather than the items. A more dedicated tank like Leona or Nautilus will still do some amount of damage, but will mostly provide cc and durability rather than dealing Illaoi levels of damage.

Illaoi is one of those champions you have to understand before beating them. You can't treat them like any other champion. This includes the way you teamfight and everything.

Illoai does alot of damage if the team stays bundled up and doesn't get out when she ults, but with an ult so easy to disengage from, she shouldn't do so much damage.

Also it seems like the damage players on the teams were just bad

Problem 1, Illoai isn't a tank. Neither is Garen, Shyvana, Darius, Nasus. Illoai is overpowered. But she is not a tank. Like these others she is a bruiser

1 - illaoi is not a tank 2 - tanks do a lot of damage because they spend a lot of time doing damage

-->Insert generic "Illaoi is a juggernaut and not a tank" response here

You dont seem to understand much about top lane. they do a lot of damage on the charts because they trade blows often in lane phase, stay in fights longer trading on the front lines, and trade blows when roaming when they see someone.

Also you didnt show Illaoi's items, Im pretty sure she had a black cleaver which is a bruiser item not a tank item.

Fighting inside the Illaoi ult and then complaining about how you all died; classic.

So essentially she's made to take out entire teams? I get that Vessel debuff, and run away, and still take 300 damage from a tentacle the second i stop running or happen to run into another tentacle... Mind you, the only AD item she had was a Doran's Blade. The Trynd, who had all crit and damage items, only managed to do 46k damage in game. Now while I understand the idea that she should be able to do damage if you don't know how to counterplay her, but should she be able to do more damage than someone whose entire goal is damage, just because you don't understand her? That seems like it makes it pointless to play anyone who doesn't have that inherent damage in their kit. I'd just like to see her need SOME sort of damage item to do this. Anything that isn't a starting item I mean.

If anyone can explain how her tentacles can do 979 damage in three hits, please let me know. I legit want to know how that damage is attained.
