What to do when teammates yell at you for building off meta?

In an ARAM..... So I like to try new things in ARAM because of the nature of the mode. All I do is get harassed, is there any way to avoid this without building meta? Such as a game I played cait and build all lifesteal instead of the normal IE build. I was constantly getting yelled at "You do no damage" , "Build an IE" "Wow you such a bad player because you don't build properly" I chose to purposefully not build meta.... /rant

I shouldn't have to mute players for situations like this....

It is human nature to down what isn't normal. The best you can do is to ignore them. Dont try to defend yourself as it will just give them fuel. If it becomes that bad just report after. But you should never be afraid of inovation, its how league evolves and why things like blue ezreal or AP shaco works. Let your results be the defining factor, and keep trying new things. If we dont, the game will get boring.

Just ignore them, if they flaming you report at the end of a game.

Why would you build all lifesteal on someone as safe as Caitlyn? Also you would heal more with lifesteal if you threw in an infinity edge.

"You do know damage"

Because you probably weren't. I would be mad too. When you make an off build you need to focus on a play style and the purpose of that play style. There is no point in having pure lifesteal.

Edit Oh wait aram. depends on how many items you built. I thought you might have been talking about like 3 bloodthirsters.

i don't usually care if someone builds like an idiot unless it's ranked, but that build sounds really stupid honestly and i'm not gonna bad mouth someone who gets upset over it.

Tell them to get stuffed and build even weirder things. It's a damn ARAM, who the hell worries about what their team builds?

yeah, its unfortunate. we had a game where we didn't have a proper tank, and our adc did nothing but whine because no one initially bought tank items. after we all left base she was gg and fed because we didn't immediately do what they wanted... i don't understand why people take ARAM so seriously, chill people.

unless you try ap garen with mana pots. seriously....

People are way too quick to jump down your throat because you didn't build the recommended or 'optimal' items. I do have to say, there's a difference between building well thought out off-meta builds, and building pure lifesteal.

Press tab and click the speech bubble next to the person smack talking you.

Your welcome.

Win. Shuts them up really quickly.

Ignore it. Do what you feel is best. If you are successful more then not with a way you play then play it. For example, I will only play thresh in an aggressive lane, if I play with a passive lane i normally do poorly and lose lane. Therefor I will not play thresh unless I have an aggressive adc.

unfortunatelly on most days the only way to really enjoy the game to its fullest is to grab 4 buddies

If you are still contributing towards victory, off-meta builds are just fine. If they hate you for that, that's their fault.

However, if you are doing builds that just straight up are terrible and do not work at all(such as AP Ashe, AP Jinx, etc.) then no, you are are a terrible person.

Ashe only has her ult that scales off AP. Jinx only has her E that scales off AP. Both do not have it fast enough to get a huge benefit from AP.
