Well tbh the underdogs won because the meta is so braindead and requires 0 strategy so the best strategical teams aka the Koreans lost while NA, EU and especially China won with clown fiestas.

It was the first worlds i remember where there are so many broken champs in the game that they cant consistently get banned out like years past, so it just turned into a clown fiesta where NA and EU can match up with the other regions since its just fighting constantly. I think this season was the biggest shitshow if you look back on all the weird metas we went through in one year. I think its better than s6 prob worse than s7
Was 1000x more enjoyable than cho, ornn top and seju, skarner jungler and teamfight who are decided by pressing r and flash.
Semifinals and finals gigastomps, quarters were interesting to be fair, KT-IG and G2-RNG were the peak.
The game is complete garbage and unless you have one dash or range you aren't allowed to participate in it. And balancing for worlds needs to stop because most of the playerbase couldn't give a single fuck about worlds.
Simply said, competitively no. Fun to watch if you loved the western regions, yes. This extremely dumbed down meta made the west better here and really shot the Koreans in the foot. Then again the feels good play will always be fun to watch compared to the really well setup and prepared for play.
This worlds was the least competitive I've ever seen the game and it feels like Riot did everything in their power this year other than remove Fog of War entirely to help the West win. They still didn't win so I think Riot might actually just remove fog of war so its impossible to gank them.
5 Years of Korean dominance saw too much viewer decline so they had to do something to change it. Hopefully next worlds they go back to solid macro play, but I am pretty sure that won't happen as it isn't what brings in viewers. People wanna see engagements everywhere, and after SSG won in such uninteractive fashion I think Riot said that macro just can't be good.
Quarters was pretty fun to watch because it was a battle of better macro teams vs inferior feels good teams and the feels good teams won due to the meta. But after that, there were only feels good teams left and then the better team just smashed every series.
I still feel bad for faker. It must suck knowing that you are the best player in the world and some other lesser players are getting trophies that you deserve.
Well at least this worlds meta has allowed players to shine individually a lot more, last worlds it wasn't like that at all.
