Early Leveling progression is awful and makes matchmaking frustrating.
Okay im on my first ever smurf account, and it only now I realise how stupid it is to have a competitive pvp orientated game, that allows you to unlock actual game advancing features through early leveling, while still matchmaking you with people from a higher lvl who have these features unlocked already.
Its like deliberatly putting lower level people at a disadvantage against those higher leveled, which seems contrary to how the system should run.
Take for example the new rune system...
Pre lvl 8 you get automatically assidened a rune build from 1 of 4. (not really tailored to the champ, as they are generic)
lvl 8 - 11 you can choose 1 of these 4 generic rune pages
lvl 11 - you can "make" a rune page, but all the options are locked
lvl 13 - unlocks your main tree runes
lvl 15 - unlocks your secondary tree options
All the time from lvl 7 onwards, im getting put against lvl 20 players, who have full access to their rune pages and can tailor them completely to their champ and their build.
I wouldn't mind if i couldn't be matched against higher levels, but when you are... and often, its incredibly frustrating running about with runes that literally dont compliment anything your champ is doing.
Is their somewhere that riot has addressed this and explained why they felt gimping lower lvl accounts was awesome-sauce or is it just "who cares about pre-15 play?"
If its all for some fantasy of progression... thats utter nonsense!
