because if they swap to your lane and you swap to respond, you now get the switched roles lp in ranked
aka your mid and the enemy top switches with mid, if you go top to follow your enemy, you get top ranked lp and not mid

If it's just speculations, then my speculation is that the game tracks where you spend the first 5-10 mins of the game, not where you go later, as if that would be the case, split pushers would be the most punished/rewarded (depending on case)

it was the one where my team had a heim top and i was mid and enemy had veig mid and garen top and they tried to switch and we switched as they switched
i played nasus mid way before the buffs, dont judge me
