New player needing guidance. level 7

I started playing this game a little bit ago. My friend even told me don't even try it because I wouldn't enjoy it starting out . He really didn't explain to me what he meant and told me that I would find out when I'm actually playing against real people. So I decided to start anyways so he made me an account and showed the home screen and what everything is regarding runes and masteries then he threw me into the game which consisted of basic stuff like moving etc. Then he put me in bot matches while he sat watched and occasionally took over the comp to give an example off stuff like do's and don'ts. I have watched him play but he broke it down better this time . Finished the bots matches after I learned their movements weren't heard to predict and I was informed that the only real way to learn was player vs player.

Now I started playing pvp and I basically decided to quit right their but my buddy wouldn't let me since I already involved him in this . He is not a super high ranked player but he still had knowledge that was still helpful. So he decided play the game while I watched and he explained what he was doing like why he did a certain thing right or what he could have done better to prevent something and other situations and stuff he did wrong. (We only have one computer at the moment not buying one yet). then he let me play and I remember the basic stuff but I got destroyed then it was a back and forth with him playing and myself . Some games he got destroyed worse than me and the enemy had more than 20 kills on some of them. He explained about smurfs or possible boosters and possibly some players could be playing with friends to get taught in gameis part of the new player problems and it extends to higher ranks as well this was his reasoning behind the belief that I wouldn't enjoy or learn since I'm by myself and not only that but dealing with really hateful and rude things people say to you about how you suck and should uninstall or your never going to be good at the game also telling the other team to report me and someone else instead of helping me in any form(their were I few that were helpful and friendly as well not much though). When I do have a win I felt like I got carried and someone helped me to get a kill .

Can anybody tell me how they personally got better at the game when they first started And is it even likely for me to actually get games with all 10 people that are new

I added you, sign on LoL now and we can play. I will only help not flame you :)

You shouldn't only play bots, but they are good for 2-3 things: Learning Champion spells Learning how to cs Learning positioning (to a degree)

This isn't true. Tier 1/2 runes are only 1IP now so you can't do much damage to your IP savings pre 30

honestly, I only played this game so I could have a common game for some of my good friends, getting better will come with time once you realize what's what. League is really overwhelming and sensory overload when you first start out. There are two levels of things you need to know, first is champion knowledge and overall game knowledge. Champ knowledge is a basic understanding of ability cooldowns, what champions even do,respecting their windows of power, when they are strong(early or late), knowing what to build, how to counterbuild, things like that. Then there is the game itself, ranging from the mechanical aspect of hitting the enemy minions so you collect as much gold as possible, learning Flash range so you can flash over walls, to the macro game such as knowing when to split push a lane, grouping up for a teamfight, contesting an objective, and so on.

It's a lot to take in at first. But I'd highly recommend intermediate bots to start with. Those bots are terrible, but it's better than nothing.

In low level games people tend to be assholes because they are smurfs and expect you to play as if you are a smurf too, so they tend to play facerolly champions such as Riven, Leblanc and Fizz. Don't be too discouraged if one beats you.

To start I would recommend simpler champs so you can contribute while you get an overall feel for the game and start to notice patterns. For example, in the support role I'd recommend Soraka and Janna, both can play pretty passively but have high impact. At the very least you can just be a heal/shield bot, and work your way up to doing more.

Tankier champs such as Garen and Dr. Mundo are good to know, sometimes the best offense is a good defense. I'd recommend Annie for a starter mage and Ezreal for a beginner ADC, both are relatively easy, and Ezreal is pretty safe.

At the end of the day it is a team game, no harm in getting some help from your mates, that is what they are there for!
