The Dodge Button - A Thing that is Very Possible

Okay so you know how you have a Re-Roll button in your All-Random All-Middle Game? Know how you get up to 2 rolls with points you earn via the game?

Why not have a dodge button that you can charge up after playing a good number of games? More so for the Ranked usage because when a team is being made, sometimes you don't get the role you are best at and now you suddenly are in an uncomfortable position. You have played, and not been reported, for over 20 games and this one you just don't want to be the support for an AD Maokai that your team says will work because of "duo'd with the jungle" now you just hit the dodge button, boot yourself from the match without penality and take away your dodge charge. Ranked will be disabled for you for 30 seconds to ensure you don't get paired with the same people (To avoid flaming should someone recognize their name) and move on with your day.

Thoughts?

This gets suggested all the time.

  1. People will abuse it for competitive reasons. They'll dodge because they got counterpicked or the enemy team got an "OP" champ, not because of the reasons you outlined. If you can use it in promos then people will dodge ANYTHING that looks even slightly bad for themselves or their team.

  2. Because of #1, you have to severely limit it or Ranked matches will never start. The most common suggestion is the one you made, getting a "free" dodge every X games played.

2a) The more "free" dodges are floating around, the more people are inclined to pull "X or feed" BS in Ranked lobbies, because they know that someone will dodge if nobody on the team caves to their demand. Ironically, having no dodges (e.g. it randomly picks a champion for you if you don't lock in) would discourage this behavior more than having free dodges.

  1. Because of #2, it's very hard to have it really be meaningful. If you have to play 20 matches to get one dodge as you suggested -- unless you're playing for hours every day, you're going to get, like, one dodge every week or two. You already get one "almost free" dodge per 24 hours; that wouldn't be a significant increase for most players.

I think we should get a ranked teambuilder then everyone can play what they want

Yes, much yes. I want this to be a thing. Especially in the games where everyone hates each other before the banning phase is even done.

Honestly, dodging is a thing. As in, its almost as much a part of LoL as choosing a champ. It would be nice to at least have some in-client functionality that recognizes it (ie give us a button instead of having to exit and reload League).

I'd love for there to be something like the OP suggested, but at the minimum at least let there be a button so we don't have to restart League... When people are toxic before the game had even begun you just gotta dodge sometimes.

I keep upvoting these threads even if I don't play ranked. It makes so much sense I don't get wht it isn't already aviable live. low elos get 1 troll every 3 games, high elos often dodge if there are like 5 jungle mains in theyr team.. so Riot could fix both issues in on go.

You would think that Riot and players would be all for this. This would allow the smart and good players to rank up quicker. That allows a bigger pool at higher elo which reduces the horrid wait times that occur at high elo. It also kneecaps the trolls since they will realize they can't hold people hostage anymore. It's a win/win for everyone.

Rewarding people for good behavior. I likes, better than punishing for bad. Rearing 101

the problem with the games where most of them hate each other, it doesn't happen till in game, then you cant really dodge, or you are part of the problem. Im all for a dodge button though.

"but it can be abused!"

SHUT THE _ UP

As of now people can go instead of the innocent leaving without punishment, the innocent have to dodge with an LP loss and a wait time. Besides, if the numbers the OP suggest don't change, its not like everybody in the entire world is just going to have 500 free dodges floating around

Report weights aren't adjusted based on a player's report frequency, but a player's report accuracy.

So, if you reported 10 players in 10 games but they were all genuinely toxic, your report weight would actually become stronger . About your second question, we do want to get better feedback into the reporting system in general but it's just not something we've prioritized in the

immediate short-term. We're figuring out things like Ranked Team Builder first and how it'd work with just role selection.

Season 2 proved that you can not have this feature. So your title is wrong. Plus you currently do not dodge, you quit and run away.
