Runes Reforged

When he talked about Runes actually effecting playstyle, I feel like we've heard the speech before with Masteries. It sounds exciting on paper, but when we look at what has actually happened with Masteries. I sure do love having only 2 options on mages! /s

I have a hard time believing there will be 3 to 5 serious choices to make for the Keystone Rune for each champion. What I think is more likely to happen is "whelp, I'm playing a healer, anything besides Over Heal is pure stupidity on my part". I really want there to be several viable Keystone Runes for healers/poke mages/whatever else, but I'm going to be skeptical of it being that robust until I see some more.

Honor

I like that it's being moved out of the tiny button and into the spotlight. What I didn't like in the mock-up is it looked like there wasn't an Honorable Opponent option. I'm also not sure what to think of all Honors being rolled into one medallion. I mean, if you're specifically saying "wow, you're great at shot calling!" shouldn't that result in a different badge of honor than "you're untiltable!"?

Rewards seem... dicey. I feel like League's community has gotten so use to ignoring Honors that it'll be common practice to keep ignoring them if the reward is too "meh". Stronger rewards run the risk of "you were tolerable, here's an honor, honor me back", which also negates the point of the Honor system.

Well, Overheal need to be taken by the person receiving the heal. From the examples in the video alone (and please keep in mind it's still heavy WIP), you can see that as an ADC with a Soraka support, you have to chose between Berserk (more AS) or Overheal (more heals from your support). Once again, it's heavy WIP so it doesn't mean a lot, but it sounds promising thus far.

And yes, it's the same thing they already said about keystones, but they also explained why keystones failed: too many constraints on the system, that had to be separated into exactly 30 points, and 3 trees wasn't enough to cover all the diversity of champions. They are basically rebuilding the system from the ground up, and getting rid of all the old constraints. I'm confident that in such a setting, they can actually deliver on their goals.

About Rewards for Honor, the thing is, even if the reward is "meh", you have to go through that screen anyway, so you might as well say the truth and honor who you think actually deserve it. At least I would prefer that to happen to your "tolerable honor-trading" scenario.

Regarding "Honorable Opponents", in the comments directly under the Nexus article, Riot said it wouldn't be available at release, but that they planned to do it in the future.

I totally agree about all the different kind of honors, and I'm also a bit skeptical about the actual category they chose.

Its interessting, specially we will get less runes, but more powerful and outplayable

agreed, i think its good that runes won't just be padding your stats but actually can uniquely customize your gameplay.

I only think that some runes will be main stream and some of them not. Today you have in your Mastery Tree always masterys that you don't need, there you will pick just the stronges.

Glad it seems like they aren't gonna completely hose people who chose to invest in T3 runes and pages, i think the new rune system seems like an interesting concept and will look forward to see how its executed.

I like the honor idea b/c it would at least have an impact unlike the current honor system.
