Let's be honest, Taum Kench is absolute a$$

If anyone have played or seen him being played they will understand how underpowered he is. On paper, many people thought he was gonna be yet another op champ at release but my god does he feels useless in actual games. This is my conclusion from seeing and playing him in high platinum ranked matches. Thoughts?

I'm not a particularly high-ELO player, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but he appears to be a champion like Vel'Koz. Not overpowered like Ekko was on release, but not underpowered like Bard was (is?). He has a clear niche, being the ability to save a caught ADC with his W, can tank pretty well with his E, and has an initiation tool with his ult. He's not the type of champion that you'll pick into EVERY game, but if they have a single-target burst focused comp (with, say, Zed/Vi), Tahm Kench makes an excellent pick, in my opinion.

Yea, I think the problem is that it's currently tank-meta meaning that you rarely see assassins like talon, zed, lb. I think Taum Kench is a counter to comps built around an assassin midlane taking out carries but in the current patch/meta he's quite weak.

Having gotten to Diamond on Velkoz, Velkoz is a much more solid champion than Tahm. Tahm has very little team fight utility, isn't good in lane, doesn't really offer much CC on demand, and really is only good for saving people from situational things like zed ult. His ult is insanely slow and almost anyone can react to it and get to a safer position. His lack of mobility and lack of hard CC on demand means he just gets shit on in league of mobility and CC.

He's also only really good when you're winning. Defensively he doesn't really have many plays he can make for his team to help them get back ahead.

I really don't see Tahm being picked much after his novelty wears off. Braum and Thresh are both way better at protecting people than him IMO.
