UNFAIR GAMES

I've lost half of my placement, but I got all S or S+, and I lost 1 game with my pentakill, and 2 others with my legendary and carrying the whole team, however, riot put me into silver 3. I was master 300lp in chinese server, and now it gives me this. Does this system and elo calculation actually base on how players play? Or riot is just screwing up with us?

You don't seem like Chinese server master. Maybe low plat at best.

You died 6 times as LB to silvers. You seem like a mid/ADC main. If you are maining a role, are truly diamond 1 or above, and die 6 times to silvers, you are doing something wrong.

Agreed. I skimmed a few replays and I'm thinking plat at best. My plat friend recently went from b1 to g5 on a smurf with a 24 win streak in one weekend alone, with an average KDA over 6.

as a plat i'm little offended that you think kda defines plat. game knowledge defines plat

I'm also plat but I think that with the mechanics you get from playing in plat, you'll not die excessively to silvers on your main role. I agree though that plat is mostly knowledge and strategy, not mechanics.

Elo/MMR is entirely based on wins/losses. How well you played doesn't matter if it doesn't translate into a win for the team. If you are doing so well, you will very quickly rise in MMR and rank. Don't fret it in the meantime. It won't take long to get to within a few divisions of where you belong.

If you never played ranked before, then even getting into gold from placements is hard. You have no history so the system doesn't know if you are high silver, gold, plat, diamond, master, or challenger. In only 10 matches, there's simply not enough data to tell. But large win streaks (which will happen if you're way above where you belong) will let you repeatedly skip divisions and earn large amounts of LP.

No, it's based on how well you do. I used to be crap and lost 7 of my placements, and got put in bronze 1 because I did terrible in the games I won.

Unfortunately, no it's not. The only thing that matters for determining your MMR is if you win or lose. You individual stats are irrelevant.

You lost 7 of your placements and got put in b1....that sounds about right. It had nothing to do with how you did in the games you won. You could have gone 40/0 in them...if you still lost, you would be in the same spot.

Really? Someone else told me that their friend got the same results and was placed into Silver 3 or something. It may have to do with how well they did the season before... (That was my first time playing ranked).

Correct. Your final placement depends on the ranking of the last season where you were ranked, if any, as well. That's how the soft reset works. So if you were b5 and go 10/10 in placements, don't expect to be placed the same as a g5 that goes 5/5. The gold player's 10 matches would be against higher MMR players than the 10 matches of the previously-b5 player.

Also, as a result of the above, order matters. Going 7/3 could put a never-ranked player in s3 while another player could be in b1/s5. Basically, if you win a match then your MMR goes up and it goes down when you lose. So going up 7 x then down 3 places you higher than somebody that went down 3 times and then up 7. The one player played against higher MMR opponents more often.

Meh, it happens. Placements intentionally place you lower than where it "thinks" you should be. It makes you work up a division or two.

they did say "most people are probably going to be placed in a lower division" than they should be/than they were last season. so yea, gl. most people ik got put in bronze/silver regardless of what they were before, though i didnt know any diamonds/plat players so idk bout them

If you actually were Master on the Chinese server, just stomp your way up to diamond again. Shouldn't take too long, especially if you manage to skip divisions. Braggers gotta deliver.

Thanks, I just skipped plat 5 to plat 3, now winning rate 69%. I got better attitude
