Jusr recently started playing oriana any tips on where and when to place the ball in team fights would be helpful. I have the basics down really amazing champ tons of bust but ihave found that a tanky ap build works really well. I like useing morellonomicon, rabadons,rc scepterand boots of cd as my core seems too give me high burst and suvivability early to mid game along with great burst and shielding potential. The other items depend on who im vs. I usually pick proto belt also. I really want to learn this champ well. Is it better to go full ap with rylais or go tanky ap?

As a mastery 7 ori player, I like a tanky ap build opting for utility over burst, orianna's nature as a mage turns to more a support in late game cause she doesn't have the raw scalings as other ap mages, in a full ap build in leu of the thew crystal scepter nerfs you're better off with an ardent censor instead of rcs, passives and the ap atop it is just better utility wise in the late game

As for ball placement you wanna have it on the engage as they start the fight ult them once they're grouped then q to a better location typically slightly further behind them and w as it goes off cool down, when the fight starts to taper off keep the ball on the closest person chasing and w for movement speed towards them.

In a smaller fight situation you wanna save your ult for a moment you can try to hit two or more, they'll flip to the opposite side of the ball so you can use that as an advantage for positioning them into the best place for your team, then just keep your ball on the enemy with your q and w when you can, if anyone jumps on you q then immediately e then w, it'll proc Thunder Lords and mitigate most of their DPS

Anything else you want explained?

I have one more question. Cd seems to really help me keep my balls mobility faster but is that more important. I like ionian boots over socerers shoes. As a mastery 7 what you pick an why? Ans i see alot picking flash /ghost rather than flash tp or flash ignite. Wuold this be due to her being more supportive role late game. Thnx for help MelodyOfWolf. Really appreciate it

Put in on your engage and let he/she deliver the shockwave as a follow up CC + pulse.

After it move it to the next priority ally that is under attack with protect for the shield and extra resistances. Then move with Q as needed

Ok I have over 4000 games on Orianna and here is my experience:

  • core items are item 3165 , item 3089 and item 3135 , you must buy them every game no matter what

  • I dont like item 3285 because you are already fast and are more utility than raw damage, buy only if you are fed af

  • I buy item 3157 in 90% of the games, its the best item for survivability vs AD ofc but also vs AP, I dont like item 3001 because I like to stay far back, but its a good item

  • item 3116 is nerfed and is shit on Ori, she didnt need it in the first place but she could abuse it, now its trash, for survivability go with item 3027 or maybe item 3070 item 3003 if you plan on farming all game long

  • item 3151 is a good last item, item 3152 is a REALLY bad item, you dont want to go in but instead stay back and provide utility and DPS

  • for boots I prefer item 3158 to maximize my CDR and thus my DPS and utility, but if you need more raw damage get item 3020 and if they are CC heavy feel free to go for item 3111

  • generally your build should be like item 3158 item 3165 item 3089 item 3157 item 3027 item 3135

  • early game dont play aggressive if you dont have a good matchup, while Ori is strong in lane as well, you DONT have to get fed, you will reach late game by simply farming, but if you start feeding you will be trash, I personally dont like risking, also for that very reason use summoner 4 summoner 6 because its the best combo in the current meta, maybe even take summoner 4 summoner 3 vs assassins

  • try not to use R while you have the ball on someone because you never know what they are going to do, if they are going to flash, or walk back or walk out of your range and fuck up your ulti, if you miss R you just blew 50% of your champions usefulness

  • try not to waste your ulti on less than 3 people, especially dont use it on 1 person unless that person is completely caught and you know you can win the 5v4 fight without your ult

  • use the ball as zoning tool, nobody wants to walk past Ori ball so abuse it to block jungle pathways or zone from drake/baron

  • try not to ulti immediately when the fight starts but rather let people forget about your ball placement when the chaos begins, and use it to ulti mid fight and blow them up

  • dont forget that the ball gives your armor and MR which makes you a lot tankier so keep it on yourself if you are getting dived

  • dont forget that your autos are really bursty late game when you stack AP and they hurt a lot, abuse it

If you want anything specific ask me, I am just rambling from the top of my head... :D
