Duo partner requirements after recent ranked changes

Hey there,

Since the addition of the Iron and Grandmaster divisions, as is to be expected, it has for the time being, caused a bit of chaos regarding mmr and tier distribution. As evidence, I offer the following screenshot:

Basically, in the photo you can see a ranked game (taken from Echo Fox jungler Rush's match history). Although, I am sure the players had similar MMR values, the match still includes players spanning 5 divisions, i.e. from Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

My question is, would these players even be permitted to duo with each other? Do the same division restrictions still exist even though the MMR distribution will take some time to normalize? Can a new account that is placed in Iron duo with a player who is Gold if they have similar MMR?

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this, because I have been seeing some strange games lately. I feel that, with the addition of the Iron division in particular, and simultaneous removal or tier 5 from each division, the main difference between iron, bronze and silver might just get measured by the distribution of smurfs before they reach Gold + ranking.

Thoughts?

I had a game where the Avg. Team MMR was about a full division apart (1280 vs 1650). Only reason any of us found out about this was because the enemy jungler stopped halfway through the game to look the game up because he said something felt wrong about the game being that 3 out of 5 of our team were theoretically countered. Felt really bad for their team after looking into this, 4 out of 5 of them were accustomed to playing against bronze skill level while 4 out of 5 of our team was accustomed to playing at gold.

That's pretty bad when you feel bad about a ranked win for days because several people are getting kicked out out of their division because they lost against people they should lose against. I know I most likely wouldn't win if it was me and 4 other S2-G3 players against a team of P2-D3 players

I was wondering if it was because of pre-season? I have been getting Platinum/Diamonds in my NORMAL games.

I looked it up one time and I was literally the only Bronze in a match where everyone else was Gold III and up aside from the Silver II. Being Bronze I in a match like that really stresses me out. I'm trying to play to chill, not to sweat my balls off.

Riot needs to do away with Duos in Ranked. It only feeds Boosting and smurfs

As far as I can tell, the main issue with the additions of adding Iron and seeding accounts at the bottom, is it is a completely cosmetic change. Nothing changed regarding starting MMR (it's still silver). This seems to do more damage than good because it extends the overall amount of matches it takes to reach what the system considers your "actual" rank.

"what did it cost (to 'fix' the system and remove the [bronze 5 trash] meme)?"

"everything"

I couldn't really care any less about your post, but your user name is cool! Used to go see RKL all the time in the 90s.
