Sejuani: Help me understand

Hi guys,

I just bought Sejuani. I know she's a heavily debated and often misunderstood champ. I like her kit on paper, but in action...where do I begin?

They buffed her overall damage yes, maybe, but I don't think that's the problem. I have only played a couple games with her but it's just so clunky. She doesn't have enough survivability to be a great tank, her cooldowns are really long so you kinda jump in (as you should, you are an initiator) then sit there. Her Q range is laughable, and after you ult there's not much you can do to get in there if you threw it far.

That being said, I'm sure some people think she is good. I hope. Can anybody tell me what I can do with this 4800ip investment? For example, in what situation should I play her? Aoe cc heavy comps? Jungle? Anybody try her top in some matchups?

What are your guys' thoughts on Sejuani, because I want to like her but she just seems so damn lackluster. And, Riot just came out with a new skin for her. So I would think they have an eye on her. Maybe not, the art department and marketing could be a totally separate animal to the gameplay guys.

TL;DR: How and why do I play sejuani- in what situations is she good? And if you don't ever like her, what buffs do you think she's in need of do be a decent pick?

Cheers!

Her problem never stemmed from "Bad damage" but rather from being a terrible jungler.

She has the absolute worst sustain and loses massive HP just from clearing the jungle... it is also worth mentioning that she has a very slow clear time even post-"buff". Her damage scaling is somewhat decent but she is still outdone by other tanks like Amumu, who coincidentally does the same things she does except much more reliably (with more damage !). As a result; Sejuani is a worse jungler than Amumu in almost every conceivable way.

Sejuani was buffed in the wrong direction. She needs a meaningful defensive steroid and a method to farm the jungle without eating all the damage in such a complete unmitigated manner... I like Sejuani but why play her when there are so many superior options available ? (Lee, Pantheon, Amumu, Jarvan, etc.)

My thoughts exactly. My 4800ip went towards her cool model and interesting kit, and not a good champion. Oh well.

Not sure post nerf/buff that they just rolled out, but before that Tankjungleitem, Rylais, Sunfire, Banshees, situational tank boots/ warmongs was a very solid build. Shes a jungler that initiates, throws out aoe damage and cc, maybe ults a team for more cc, then acts as a meat shield while shes putting out more cc. Her problem is the quickness of games right now, Tanks have problems in this meta, but overall shes a very strong tank jungler if you have to be one.

Seems really powerful to me, been really enjoying her. Not sure about high ELO though.

After a rough first two clears, you can upgrade your jungle item and buy an AP item. Once you have a item 1026 or part of item 3136 her clear speed is pretty good. You only need that little bit of AP then can build tank (her scaling makes item 2049 a good choice on her) .

Her pre-6 is a little rough but considering the CC she brings and that she can build tanky and provide good Magic Damage and good waveclear it's a good tradeoff. Her ult is ridiculous. She has a ton of CC and her Q, E and R provide her with a lot of safety too.

If you are having jungle problems, don't build health until you can clear well. Damage (AP in her case) and Armor are your friend. Delay building health (minus Sighstone, if you need it) until you start spending more time fighting and less time in the jungle.

Honestly she may be a bit overtuned now. I think she may be on par with Rumble or Maokai as far as AP Bruisers go. Hell she's even good in some lane matchups. Sejuani 4 lyfe.
