This idea will turn Flex Queue into what Riot has always wanted!

With ranked teams 5v5 being removed and dynamic queue gone, Riot wants a new ranked queue that will enable premade players to compete together in a more teamwork-based environment. This new Flex queue is similar to dynamic queue, in fact the only difference is that you can't have a 4 man premade. Solo players can still enter, and it also has its own separate rewards. In its current state, Flex queue will accomplish absolutely nothing. However, I believe Riot has a chance to turn it into one of the best things to ever happen to League of Legends.

The problem with Solo Queue is that League of Legends is a team-work based game, and working with 4 other random people doesn't always work out. The problem with Dynamic Queue is that it didn't cater to solo players, in fact put them at a disadvantage, therefore Riot brought Solo Q back to accommodate for Solo players. But now they're trying to accommodate the premade-team players who enjoy queuing up with friends to work together in a coordinated fashion. And that's great. That is the way the game is supposed to be played. It's the most competitive way as well. And if a team-work based gamemode such as Flex Queue is well executed, it could easily be the most popular and most efficient queue the game has ever seen.

So, since the problem with Dynamic queue was the disadvantage towards solo players, renaming it to Flex queue and changing nothing won't fix it, even if you added Solo Queue back. How can we make Flex queue balanced, efficient, and unique, and implement it in a way that will accomplish Riot's goal of a teamwork-based, competitive atmosphere? Well, we're already halfway there. Riot disabled the option to 4-man in Dynamic Queue, and that eliminates the possibility of singled out solo players, which is great, but it leaves us with the problem of solo players still being matched with premade teams, and that is not going to work out, it never has worked out, and after a year of dynamic queue, Riot should know better than to try it again, even if it can't be in a 4 to 1 basis.

The solution is simple. Disable not only 4-mad premades in Flex queue, but also solo players in Flex queue. This team-work based gamemode has a large responsibility to replace Ranked 5v5 and Dynamic queue, and combine them in a way that will allow players to queue up as a team. The best way for Flex queue to run is by having only 2-man, 3-man, or 5-man premades. And in 3 man queues, one of your players HAS to queue up as support in order to meet queue requirements, just like in 4-man dynamic queue.

This change will bring us something unique, something we've never seen before in League of Legends. Not only will it finally accomplish the teamwork-based queue Riot has been looking for, it will also be a much less toxic queue to play in. These changes will revolutionize the way League of Legends is played and satisfy both solo and team players.

tldr Flex Queue should consist of 2 man, 3 man, and 5 man premades, disabling solo players and 4 man premades from entering the queue.

Since Riot is planning to have different end-of-season rewards for each queue, some might argue that "solo players that are strictly solo won't be able to get flex queue rewards." And that's fine. That's the point. It creates incentive to play both queues, and encourages players to team up with people they know to participate in Flex queue.

That means teams would only be able to consist of 3+2 or just 5. Have fun with those queue times. Whatever the rewards are, they aren't going to be enough to get me to play flex if I need to constantly be looking for people to play with.

Make friends or play Solo queue, simple as that. Those of us who enjoy playing in coordinated games with our friends will play Flex, and people who don't want to play with a premade will play solo. And that's the point! You needed FOUR other people to play ranked fives! And the queue times still weren't that bad. The queue times for my version of Flex queue are guaranteed to be faster than the old ranked fives.

You seem to be under the impression that I even remotely care remotely about flex queue, you guys are the ones who will have to suffer with the queue times lol.

They're giving incentives to solo players to play that queue for that very reason.

So you want me to bother my friends constantly in order to play flex queue?

"Hi other laptop, wanna play?"

"No way dude. When we play together we somehow end up feeding like crazy. It's almost as if we're both playing with one hand."

That's why there's an entire queue dedicated to solo players like you! Amazing! If these changes are made, neither players of solo preference or team preference will be ignored.

"Hey guys can I play :D"

"Sorry JuhnChan we already have three people. We can play if you find someone else"

":D"

"No fuck off your other laptop doesn't count."

sorry but no, first off queue times would be stupidly high and for those who rather play in a more team oriented environment but can't get a consistent group of people together are just screwed.

I will play flex queue as a solo player and will have no issues about it while those who want to think that they are able to carry every single game can go towards solo/duo q

But I want to finally be able to get those nifty ward skins as a solo player! (edit to add: And also that mysterious extra prize for those gold+ in both.)

Plus I actually take some pride in being able to 'read' my premade comrades and get on board with relatively coordinated teamwork without actually having voice comms with them, and finally being able to have a queue to do that instead of the solo queue clown fiesta is neat.

The separation of rewards is to help denote whether or not you were a flex queue player, a solo q player, or both. If you want to do both as a solo player, make some friends!
