ELO & Ranking in General (not a whine)

Hello everyone,

I was sitting there playing some solo ranked games and I'm in one of those losing streaks where nothing seems to be going right. :) We all have been there. Like I said this is not a whine cry cry post. As I was sitting there taking my beating like a man, an idea flashed quickly into my head. How could ranked calculate someones skill / elo in maybe a better fashion. So below is my idea, if you are not interested in reading, then do not read. However it may make you think a bit.

What if Elo / Match making or any score related to ranked was based on what you personally did in a game. Win or lose. Lets say I'm Mundo top. I start with my normal build of Spirit Visage, some boots, then .... wait whats this... my support... is not warding. Let me toss in a sight stone. It gives me some health which is never bad on Mundo and allows me to drop vision where it may be lacking. I end up going 1 kill, 3 deaths and 2 assist. Not very good for a Mundo top lane. The game itself was quite the blow out. The other team got off to an early lead from our support Sona handing them 11 kills. No excuse.. if we grouped and made better decisions we could have made it close. However it was not close. The other team had a 19k gold lead 31 minutes in when they ended it. Hehe, you all get the hint.

Defeat (the numbers and elo im stating are just ball park numbers to give readers an idea of what I was thinking) (nothing was calculated by some sick formula or anything like that, just me spitting random numbers out)...... click continue. You have lost 22 LP... heres where my idea has slipped in. What if your elo / mmr was based off what you personally did in each game. So I lost.. I had 1 kill, 3 deaths 2 assist, not great, but I also dropped around 20 wards or so. Based off that... Instead of the 22 LP loss, it would be like 5 LP or so. The Sona would have lost maybe 26 or so. The 3 kills 11 deaths 7 assist.. and maybe 5 wards dropped would negatively impact her. So she would lose more LP then say me or anyone on the team that didn't feed, dropped wards, and overall did better.

Same would be done for the team that wins. If someone on the winning team goes 3/11/7 as support with no or little wards dropped, would be given less LP for the win as say the person who goes 20 kills 2 deaths 7 assist.

Overall my idea is elo / mmr is based off how you personally do each game. The better you do, the more you contribute the more LP you get for the win or the less LP you would lose for a loss. It would overall encourage people to not troll as much and maybe get the rank games to be more competitive. Thats overall my goal. Not to make rank easier or anything like that, but to make the games more competitive. Just seems like ranked is lacking something most the time. Now and then you may get a good game. Just feels like you dont most the time.

If you read this then thank you. Drop your thoughts or ideas off in the thread and happy killing to everyone. :)

KDA should be a driving factor. That being said, people will surrender quicker if they're ahead and not fight for a win. You'd have to strike a balance, but considering it's "solo" queue, the "solo" factor should contribute a lot more to your ELO.
