What do you hate most as a support?

I am by no means a great player. Bronze V represent! But my biggest woe as a support is how aggressive ADC's are in the Bronze brackets. It is basically like watching an amateur heavyweight boxing match. It is whoever punches the opponent harder in the face and gets the KO. So that is what I hate the most. Over-aggressive teammates. Why can't everyone just learn to play conservative? :)

You're pretty much the only person who gets pink wards

I hate the new masteries and how squishy I feel this season :P

What do you hate most as a support?

All the early-game damage in masteries that turns a lot of marksman (weak early, strong late) into just strong all the time.

Liked having more control were support was strong early/weak late, but comparatively to marksman many just seem weak all the time: especially supports that can't go ham in a tank line. Even with tanks: the added marksman damage early insures if you mess up once, you done goofed big time.

Ward limits, AP ratios on utilities, Sona being kind of ass, Lulu being a better solo-lane than support champ, and no mana pots also kind of suck. But not as much as being Thunderlord's/Fervored to death because of mistakes being made.

Especially support tanks, they feel pathetically weak this season from all the free damage in masteries.

Caitlyn's that don't use traps or poke.

Vayne that over-commit.

Vayne ALWAYS over-commit. As does Lucian. Something about having a dash seems to make players think that they can make these LC$BIGPL@YZ and turn a 1v2 into a double kill. My BIGGEST gripe about ADCs is when they have as much remaining health as this - "I" - and seem to think they can pull out these crazy plays and not get instantly murdered. I constantly find myself telling the ADC to back or they will die to much resistance and whining because "I'm ok, I can get this kill."

I guess I would be the exact opposite as you. I would want an aggressive adc, but then again it does depend on the match. For me it's adc who don't watch their surrounds (or anyone in the game for that matter) I can't stand when I ward something and they are so blinded by it even when they ignore pings. I've had people bitch at me about no Mia despite not only helping ward for them but using the Mia ping, but for them I guess I wasn't spam pinging enough!

Doesn't matter if you're adc is over-aggressive. You should pick well during pick/ban phase to compliment your adc if you are a support main. Aggressiveness usually means a faster winning of your lane and a faster roaming phase to help your other lanes. In my opinion, playing conservatively and just CSing is quite boring as a duo lane.

Some adcs NEED to simply CS though because they outscale. Like a Vayne or Tristana. I actually think in lower Elos by simply farming effectively or better than opponent you "win lane".

This is one reason why I refuse to play thresh! People still to this day don't know how to click on his lantern, but I gaurentee you they will be the first to complain that I (as thresh) never tried to help them!

I hate supporting Vayne players that are unfamiliar with her kit and when she hits power spikes. They simply do not understand the champion, want to pick fights all the time, despite her early game being quite shitty.

I also can't stand when the laner wants to freeze the wave then the opposing team is hurrying the lane to level two. We need to get to level 2 first people. Don't try to freeze.

I play Sona mostly and I don't like it when ADCs do not follow-up with a trade. I do not play mistake free, but lower level ADCs often will just let the enemy beat the shit out of me while they farm. If I die 2x because of an ADC failed to respond when I need help I simply go to another lane after I hit 6. Sona is not durable enough to if the enemy team gangs up on her.

what i hate most is when i set up a kill for them... blow all my spells my exhaust and all they need to do is like attack the enemy with like 2 autos for a absolutely free kill. and they just sit there... then because i have NOTHING left the enemy support and adc focus me and kill me.. all the meantime my adc is just sitting there.. shooting minions at full hp and not even last hitting.

and then they go.. "wow stupid support tried to 1v2"

and then they kill the adc and he goes.. "stupid support died for nothing and then left me all alone"...

You may actually find you have greater success as support playing only a "disengage" style in low Elo if the lane is even.

I improved dramatically at the support position in early laning once I began to play responsively instead of proactively when the lane is even. This is because ADCs in low Elo have no idea how to react to an all in attempts by their support EXCEPT when the opponents all in them. This way you keep your summoners, (typically using them later in a fight is better), and you don't have to worry about the ADC following up. They will react to the engage.

Supports dictate the lane, but being overzealous with a non-responsive ADC leads typically to both your deaths later.

I play Sona Morgana and Lux which are aggressive supports, but I play them to zone and poke and only respond to opponent actions. You could say that this may hinder your skills at you climb, but you are in silver V, and probably this strategy will help you through Gold and Silver.

Also, I stopped listening to the ADC in early laning if the lane is even. The ADC must demonstrate they are competent for me to listen to them if the lane is even. I will follow-up with the adc if he/she decides to all-in, but you typically call the shots as a support in early laning. Listening to a low Elo ADC has gotten me killed too many times.

Of course this strategy changes if you are behind or ahead, but I think you may find greater success playing a reactionary, zoning, and poke style than trying to proactively give the ADC kills. I think in low Elo winning lane can simply come down to getting a CS lead over the opponents.

Just a suggestion that improved my support game when I was silver with the role. It is my secondary role, but I am now confident in playing support in ranked with other Gold/Plat players since I changed how I played the position.

I hate it when I go to ward the river and then my lane partner dies and begins complaining about how I left him/her alone. A little awareness goes a long way; if you see me stepping away to ward a bush, then back up and stay out of danger for a few seconds, dammit.

I wish we could rename support to something a little more grace full. Support implies that you are specifically there at your teams disposal. I would prefer something like utility/initiator/set up man something that describes what we do as "supports". [zombie-nunu-bummed] . Everyone who has owned a bot lanning phase knows how much you carried that lane despite what KDA says. Essentially all an adc has to do is auto attack and be in position. ADC is way easier than support.

  1. When my adc goes 0/4 in 10mins due to horrible positioning then says 'useless support'

  2. When the adc demands I play a certain champion and then flames if I refuse.

I hate that you are essentially gambling whenever you go support. Doesnt matter how good you play support if your team gets sht on YOU WILL NOT CARRY. Which is why i refuse to ever play that role.

The super aggro ADC's who think me accidentally last hitting "their" minions is "STEALING MY FARM!".

A lane partner that doesn't understand positioning or how to not push a lane nonstop.

If the support is sitting way back it's probably a good sign you pushed the lane to hard. Another good sign is when the enemy jungler can walk up BEHIND YOU without ever being near your turret.
