Training Mode?

Hello,

If this is already an option somewhere, im sorry for posting and I thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I wanted to come online today and ask why a training mode hasn't been implemented yet with this game. By training mode I mean a match where you can up and down your level at will, buy any item you want for free, and have no CD on summoner spells.

This would be a quick and easy way to test different builds and different rotations or routes while not having to wait it out in a normal match. It would also help newer players learn to use abilities like flash and barrier better. This type of a game mode coupled with the already detailed breakdown available to us after the match would really help people to min/max without bothering others in a real match I think.

Then again I could just be lazy. I would really enjoy being able to test out different jungle routes and builds, and also different end-game builds without having to run through full matches multiple times.

What do you think?

{quoted} What do you think?

I think that, oddly enough, I had the same thought again just this afternoon. It would be useful to test some things (like bugs, for an example of mine) without having to try to get someone else to go along with it (which I don't bother to do, I doubt they'ld be interested).

Also, I doubt this but perchance have you not heard of custom mode?

I have heard of Custom, just doesnt have the options I want >.< I dont mind trying new things in custom mode and bot matches, I would just rather not play a whole match to check on xyz.

I would rather have the ability to do what I mentioned in the OP. It'd be great for training teams as well, im sure the community would find great ways to use it. Imagine all those pro plays we see that happen by chance or luck, people could practice with their group till they could pull them off whenever they want.

Would just bring a higher level of skill to the game for more casual players (and hardcore min/maxers as well) like myself.

Yeah, I thought you would have lol. I just saw the bit about routes and "waiting out normal matches" and thought "Oh no! Did this poor guy go through entire games just to test a couple of jungle routes?" Had to double check.

I doubt it would happen (they just removed the noob-traps with runes for new players this year) but I am 100% with you on this idea. It would have been great to so I could just press "reset" and wouldn't have to start a dozen custom games just to test 1st jungle clears.

Yep, it'd definitely be helpful >.< oh well though! Maybe one day Rito will hook us up!

We've had various threads like this, with various levels of extravagance. A sandbox mode would be amazing, especially if we had access to console commands.

So you want a super-buffed URF mode

No, I wouldnt really support this as a mode you would sign up to play a whole lot. Probably restrict it to a coop experience against bots so it couldnt be used like that.

What? Seriously, how on earth did you get that from what he wrote?

wants no CDs on summoners - everything was heavily reduced on URF (80% CDR across the board, including summoners) wherein you're essentially spamming spells the entire game due to 0 costs.

What I get out of this training mode is that you build whatever you want whenever you want and are already level 18 in every game.

While that's a good thought - very few times do people need help about the late-game more than the transition from early to midgame

It's not really about actually playing this mode, though. I could see it being useful for jungle champs, to test clear paths and builds against jungle mobs.

Heroes of the Storm actually has something very similar, and I think that might be where OP got the idea from. It puts you in a one-lane map with a fort (tower) and a single opponent. You can level up/down at will to mess with different builds and see your ranges and damage output as you go. This mode is used for testing heroes before you buy them.

I'd actually like to see something similar implemented in League, but it's not really as big of a priority here since champs are so much cheaper than heroes.

This is one of the things they do in SMITE that I wish they had in League.
